Senate Committee Accuses Lois Lerner of Targeting Bristol Palin

Bristol-PalinA new report from the Senate Finance Committee accuses former IRS chief Lois Lerner of targeting a nonprofit organization just because it paid a fee to Bristol Palin.

Candie’s Foundation, a teen pregnancy prevention organization, paid the daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin $332,500 to be their celebrity spokesperson. But Lerner, who Republicans have long accused of targeting conservative organizations, seemed unusually interested in whether the payout was against the law.

“Thoughts on the Bristol Palin issue?” Lerner reportedly wrote to IRS staff in 2011. “I’m asking because I don’t know whether to send to Exam as a referral.”

Among the other odd revelations from the emails released by the Senate Finance Committee is that Lerner believes Abraham Lincoln was the worst president of all time. “Look my view is that Lincoln was our worst president not our best,” she wrote in an email to a friend. “He should [have] let the south go. We really do seem to have 2 totally different mindsets.”
