Senator Lindsey Graham On Lame-Duck Session: ‘Harry Reid Has Eaten Our Lunch’

audio

There is a well accepted maxim in any sort of negotiation technique that states that its always best to let your adversary believe they’ve got the better end of the deal. This comes to mind after hearing the following interview between Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in which the Senator claims that it was Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) that got the better end of recent lame-duck session legislation, and not his own Grand Old Party.

Graham said “when it’s all going to be said and done, Harry Reid has eaten our lunch,” adding “tis has been a capitulation in two weeks of dramatic proportions of policies that wouldn’t have passed in the new Congress.”

Hey, ya must admit that we have learned so much from the libs on Mediaite that the world did not know.

For example, the libs have have pointed out that :

    1. Jews their own distinct race. Unfortunately, the Jews don’t know it.
    2. Madrasses are actually Hebrew schools and not Islamic schools. Too bad no one told the NY Times, Washington Post, The Merriam-Webster or Muslims for that matter.

Japanese leaders had a lot more destructive motives than Hugo Chavez. There are more factors to the creations of wars than you think. Also naturally, when a nation exists(strong or weak), Its neighbors, who are hostile against it, are of the same strength. For example, Before the Iraq war, we had Iraq, keeping Iran in check. Take a look at Pakistan Vs. India for example. Oh and don’t forget the cold war era, when we were against USSR. its always like that. The reason Japanese got that strong, is because there were not strong countries in South East Asia fighting against Japan at that time. Russia wasn’t involved, China wasn’t that strong, British colonies(except Burma and Singapore which were conquered by Japan), weren’t really fighting Japan hard.. and guess what was there?

Thing with Venezuela, is that they have enemies like US, and Columbia. They don’t have that many enemies, yet Some of the enemies it has are very strong. Thats what keeps Venezuela in control. Also Hugo Chavez has a big mouth. I don’t really think he would have enough military capacity to create a world empire. Even if they had money, they wouldn’t be able to buy arms due to US embargos and pressure currently set..

I don’t recall saying that. However, your statement was that Venezuela was too small to “be afraid of.” Clearly, that’s not the case.

And while I hesitate to reference, do remember that it took only a handful of people to cause the destruction that was seen on 9/11. So size isn’t exactly relevant, is it?

While I can certainly appreciate the history lesson, that’s not exactly what we’re talking about, is it? Sky said there was no need to be fearful (read: concerned) about the activities and goals of the Venezuelan government because they’re “so small.” Regardless of other global issues, the comparative size of Japan and Venezuela was meant to show just how foolish and oversimple that statement was.

What worries me about Venezuela isn’t really them alone… alone, they’d be decimated in any kind of full on conflict. However, when teamed with other un-friendly nations (Iran, specifically), it would present the United States with an uncomfortable war on two fronts… and as any military person will tell you, a two front war is never a good thing.

Now, in addition, if a small nation like Venezuela attempted to attack the United States, but only through smaller proxy groups, we could face a perpetual conflict like that of Israel and its neighbors. Any retaliation by the United States would be seen as “over aggressive” and “unfair” by the international community, and would leave many Americans in a state of panic. While the physical damage might be relatively small, the emotional and political damage would be significant. It’s like a little kid picking on an adult… if the adult responds, he’s immediately the bad guy, but if he doesn’t respond, he’s a pushover who loses respect.

Bottom line, just because Venezuela doesn’t have a tremendous amount of military resources, it doesn’t mean they can’t negatively effect the United States.

Thats a nice point you make. The thing is however, is that we have used these small proxy groups against others and I am very sure we are. This is the new type of warfare led between countries these days
If little countries like Venezuela can hit each other with proxy groups, then why can’t we??

And also trust me, Venezuela will dare not to touch US with proxy groups. NO small group will take a step towards suicide unless it has a strong passion for something and is DEEPLY against its enemies( Take Al Qaeda for example). Why would Hugo Chavez bother to even hit US, when he knows he will die? These guys do what they do only for sympathies. If we follow a more non interventionist policy and if they hit us first, we will have support to defeat them..

Maybe yes, maybe no. Remember Saddam bluffed the world into thinking he had Nukes. He knew that we were ready to attack, and he knew the world was watching… yet he still bluffed a bad hand. All I’m saying is I wouldn’t be so sure.

Lindsey Graham is another part of the problem . Too into his groove of crap and talking points . . I would not be surprised to see him go . (R) think they are safe with the Tea Party . They’re not .

Hey sorry to bust your bubble, but Al-Qaeda is not a country. You are sounding like O’Reiley, too much fox is in your opinion DNA. Al-Qaida have no home, no one would have them, because of the consequences that would come with it. If Venezuela dare do that, which they will never do, Chaveze knows his head would roll, his own people will turn against him.

    Seriously?

    Venezuela = 353,841 sq mi
    Japan = 145,925 sq mi

And who did we fight in WWII again? That’s some strange logic you got there, Sky.

Canada is PHYSICALLY bigger than both of them combined. By your thinking, we should really be afraid of them the most.

ACTUALLY, Japan STILL has a military that is in the top 10 of the most powerful in the world. Venezuela’s doesn’t even crack the top 30. So BY REALISTIC STANDARDS, Japan is STILL the bigger threat.\

    http://www.globalfirepower.com/

But you’re right. Since the neo-cons have proven that their foreign policy makes it impossible for America (who has a military larger than the next 20 militaries in the world combined) to even take on two piddly ass countries, we really should be as afraid of Venezuela as any other country that the neo-cons can doctor evidence for invading against. Especially since America now likes to get into wars of aggression when the chicken hawk neo-cons are in power. Especially when those chicken hawk neo-cons can con fake conservative Americans who only NOW claim that deficits are a problem, into wasting efforts and money on yet another foreign policy distraction for the benefit of the bottom line of corporatists.

Basically you’re suggesting that Venezuela is a good enough distraction as any to avoid talking about past and current neo-con foreign policy disasters that STILL are ongoing. Since our Middle East policy wasn’t so successful, maybe we should refocus on our energies on those evil LEFTIST in Latin America. That turned out so well the first time we intruded on Latin American internal policies the first time around.

Fact: This one is a open job position! Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) needs to go!

That’s right, he’s too smart for South Carolina, the LEAST EDUCATED state in the union. Jim Demint is more their style. Now there’s a man who knows that the reason a state like South Carolina is so illiterate and impoverished is not because they pay their teachers less than a garbage man makes and their students are barely educated beyond 19th century standards but because there are too many “queers and loose women” teaching in public schools.

Lindsay Graham has far too much rational thought for the average education bottom feeder Red Staters. His big words go over their heads. He needs to go so that stupidity completely reigns with Red State politicians. Being smart is even-handed is a disease red staters can ill afford to catch. Otherwise, they’d stop voting for the GOP all together.

The weapon inspectors were damn sure he didn’t have weapon of mass destruction, and they were proven to be correct. Your whole comparison is laughable and shows your lack of comprehension. Venezuela should be fighting with Guatamala, Colombia etc, not a country that makes it mandatory to spend billions of dollars on defence every year.

Fact: Graham is a flip flopper that reads how polls are going daily and he seems to kiss up to them that’s my opinion but some things he’s right on defense issues, but I feel he’s wrong on more monetary issues than right so sense I as the Tea Parties would rather be more of a spend cutter first then fill the rest up for daily government operating fees with taxing if needed then and only then if we truly need entitlements that all feel are need find a way to fund it too! The example on entitlements like here is 9/11 responders health measure that’s it! That’s a fact! So don’t go whack a doodle or something!

Fact: Is English your first language? Because clearly knowledge of economic matters. For EXAMPLE, you can’t cut taxes and cut the deficit at the same time. But thanks for admitting that the Tea Party does all your thinking for you. I see they do your writing, too. Which is why both you and they make no SENSE.

There’s a reason you typically posts in one sentence statements. Complex thoughts are not your forte. And complex thinking, like the kind done by Lindsay Graham, is not something you’re capable of understanding let alone rendering in anything close to a sensible sentence.

Embarrassing yourself again. If you remember kindergarten, we were thought how to count. The last time I checked 1 comes before 2. The Germans were at the fore front of World war 1 dummy. How do you think WW2 came along? How did the bloody Nazis gained power? it was due to the defeat and humiliation the Germans received after the first ww. The Nazis came along to restore National pride and increased Nationalism in the peoples mind. Normally, these (Nazis), were look down upon by the elites in the Political and Military world, but they played there propaganda well and won elections.
They were made to pay large amounts of reparation, which destroyed there currencies. I’ve told you before you need to start paying me for the free education I’m giving you daily.

Cuts are the only way we’ll fix our problems, but I hear this all the time especially from tea partiers. Tell me what you’re going to cut and oh by the way restore the economy at the same time. One other thing do not touch anything that impacts me. We have to have a wellingness in this country to give on some things that may impact us. Look what happen when Obama cut Nasa people were outraged, but they got over it. Do we have the stomach for this kind of sacrifice. Think about what got us here in the first place. Greed and I want it now mentality!
