#StopIslam Trends, Gets Massive Backlash on Twitter After Brussels Attacks

Hours after the attacks in Belgium killed 34 and injured over 100 more––with ISIS already claiming responsibility––#StopIslam started trending on Twitter.

And not just in the United States. It was trending worldwide:

It’s worth noting there was a significant backlash to the trend, and anti-#StopIslam tweets may have even overtaken the ones in favor of the trend:
