This Week In Viral: “Neil Young” Sings “Fresh Prince”

Sometime between his monologue and his first guest, Jimmy Fallon of NBC’s Late Night offers up some Saturday Night Live-like sketch comedy. The segments draw viewers and non-viewers alike to NBC.com and Hulu, and some have hit and become viral video sensations (see: “Going Rogue Goes Rogue“).

This one from earlier this week combines a great song, a funny and unique concept and perfect execution – all the makings of what separates Fallon from his competition in what works for the web.

Here’s Fallon, as Neil Young, singing the theme from Fresh Prince:

NBC would save LOADS of money, if they just spared our Sensibilities and “broadcast” Fallon’s show, on the online video channels.

Great work – nothing says timeliness like doing a bust on 70s-era Neil Young singing the theme to a TV show that went off the air a decade ago. Maybe next week he can rip on President Hoover and throw in some raunchy Lewinski jokes!!!

After years of the cringe-worthy pronunciation of nu-cu-lar during the Bush White House, it seemed like we finally had an administration who had a litmus test in staffing their National Security detail - pronounce the word "nuclear." Not so. During an interview to discuss Iran's weapons program with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell today, National Security Chief of Staff Denis McDonough definitely uttered the term Nucular. Gotcha!
