Tom Coburn Hates All Y’all 2016 GOP Presidential Candidates (Except Maybe Rubio)
In every election cycle, there must be one crotchety old man who surveys the entire field of candidates, pauses for a moment, and goes Bah, they’re all garbage. This year, we hope it’s former Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), because this interview indicates that he could very well be that man.
During his appearance on SiriusXMPatriot, Coburn gave host Andrew Wilkow his blunt, candid thoughts on the current GOP presidential field — which is roughly 13 candidates deep, if you include the undeclared candidates — and slammed them for not “talking about the real problems.” (Let’s be blunt, we already know what he thinks of the Democrats’ field.)
So far, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is “probably my favorite,” and he described Carly Fiorina as “smart, savvy, and experienced.”
But those were the only two he liked, and as BuzzFeed reports, he had burns for everyone else. Lots of burns. We need some burn cream here, because they all got Coburned:
Of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Coburn said “I don’t think that America will elect another Bush president.”
Coburn said Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul “scares me to death” on foreign policy. He added Paul didn’t “speak truthfully” about the NSA and he “would not vote for him for president.”
…Coburn said Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is “not ready for primetime in my opinion.” He said Walker didn’t win the recall election in 2012 but “Republicans around the country did it for him.”
Coburn said he had “a personal bone to pick with him on integrity that I witnessed” with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. The former senator said Carson was asked not to attack President Obama in his National Prayer Breakfast speech but said “his speech was nothing but an attack on the president.”
Unbelievably, there are seven more candidates in the field, and needless to say, they all got Coburned, too.
