Twitter Users Jump on Mark Halperin For Tweet Asking What Would Happen If Trump Got Presidential
Today on Twitter, Mark Halperin tried to do a fun thought experiment and got totally shut down by his followers.
He tweeted this:
What would happen if Trump picked a popular, qualified vp, started talking only abt need to change DC, middle class, Hillary=status quo?
— Mark Halperin (@MarkHalperin) June 19, 2016
Then, he was bombarded with responses like this:
@MarkHalperin What would happen if you and I flew to Mars and opened a Bloomberg outpost?

What if Mark Halperin was a journalist? https://t.co/Ab6Xu4jGmM

.@MarkHalperin what would happen if Mark Halperin wasn’t chock full of such inane, pointless observations?
— hannah gais (@hannahgais) June 19, 2016
What would happen is that Mark Halperin would pretend to believe it,
try to help Trump get elected.
Why do you ask? https://t.co/BZF2IFZWNP— Mark A.R. Kleiman (@MarkARKleiman) June 19, 2016
What would happen if the Joker expressed remorse for his crimes, and got as a job as a counselor for troubled teens? https://t.co/1QuKRrNI3L

What if – now hear me out, okay – Obama resigned to work as a Ronald McDonald impersonator. https://t.co/Kug4MwFru9

Bonus points for this one being topical:
What would happen if Mark Halperin deleted his account?
— Light and Joy (@leenie909) June 19, 2016
It seems that the idea of Donald Trump suddenly pivoting to be presidential and starting to run a more conventional campaign is so laughable that no one could take Halperin’s hypothetical seriously.
Remember, though, that this is sort of Halperin’s schtick.
Disingenuous “what if …?” @MarkHalperin is my favorite Mark Halperin.

Do you think this is the “disingenuous ‘what if…?’ Mark Halperin” referenced a year ago by that person on Twitter or do you think he really believes Trump could pull out the presidential stops in the coming weeks?
