The Peggy Noonan Problem

I have a problem with Peggy Noonan’s column in the Wall Street Journal on December 19th, “The Adam Lambert Problem.” But this is not a story about an angry liberal attacking a perceived conservative newspaper. This is the story of poor journalism.

Oops, We Changed Our Mind: GLAAD Tosses ABC Under The Bus

A day after giving cover to ABC for imposing a performance exile on Adam Lambert, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has shifted its position and now says ABC should get the gay community’s scorn for its treatment of Lambert, saying “GLAAD remains steadfast in our assertion that Adam Lambert is being subjected to a double standard by ABC as an openly gay performer.” Huh?

GLAAD Gives Blessing to Adam Lambert’s Exile From ABC

video

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation says ABC’s decision to put Adam Lambert into performance exile is not because of homophobia but because he won’t follow directions, giving cover to the network from critics who say the ban from the Jimmy Kimmel Live and ABC’s New Years Rockin’ Eve show is due to Lambert’s homoerotic antics at the American Music Awards.

Kiss Off! ABC Un-Invites Adam Lambert From Jimmy Kimmel & New Year’s Eve

ABC still hasn’t forgiven Adam Lambert for his performance at the AMAs: Not content to have un-booked him from Good Morning America (delivering him neatly to the CBS Early Show for a nice ratings bump), they have now disinvited him from Jimmy Kimmel on Dec. 17th, as well as the network’s New Year’s Eve special. He must be made to pay.

ABC News Says ‘No’ To Adam Lambert, ‘Yes’ To Chris Brown

Adam Lambert‘s appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America this week was canceled after concerns about “airing a similar concert [to his AMA performance] so early in the morning.”

Now news of another ABC celebrity booking comes out – ABC’s 20/20 will air a Chris Brown interview next month.

CBS Blurs Kiss While Adam Lambert Discusses AMA Performance

video

After complaints about his racy performance at Sunday night’s American Music Awards, ABC’s Good Morning America canceled Adam Lambert‘s planned appearance today, and CBS’ The Early Show quickly scooped up the interview and performance.

Lambert addressed the backlash, but offered no apology. And CBS didn’t seem completely comfortable with it either.

Adam Lambert Backlash Begins: GMA Cancels Concert After Complaints (Update)

video

After Adam Lambert‘s thrust-tastic, overtly sexual performance at Sunday night’s American Music Awards resulted in more than a thousand complaints, the first signs of a backlash are being seen.

TVNewser reports Lambert’s planned performance on ABC’s Good Morning America has been canceled.

Why Glenn Beck Could Be The Next Oprah Winfrey

It’s hard to envision anyone filling Oprah’s shoes. While she certainly started out as merely a popular talk show host, Oprah became in the last decade or so, evolved into a sort of national mentor around whose ideas and beliefs people (the country, one might argue) shaped their outlook on life. Probably it’s safe to say no one is taking life advice from Katie Couric, or Ellen, or Tyra Banks. Know who some people are taking life advice from these days? Glenn Beck.

Glambert, J-Lo And The AMA Moments You’ll Be Talking About At The Water Cooler

video

The American Music Awards crowned Taylor Swift Artist of the Year over Michael Jackson (where was Kanye West for this one?) but these awards shows are never really about the awards.

Instead, they’ll be about Adam Lambert‘s hip thrusts, J-Lo’s fall and a near nip-slip. Let’s take a look at the AMA moments you’ll be talking about today.

Gaga and Glambert: Post-Sexy

There’s something different about Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert. She’s got it, he’ll grow into it. But either way, the “it” takes sex to a whole new level of performance art — instead of pushing the envelope, they’re wearing it.

Is Adam Lambert Too Gay? Or, Not Gay Enough?

Who knew that the cover of a gay magazine could put everyone in such a bad mood. Adam Lambert used an interview with Entertainment Weekly to respond to allegations made earlier in the week by Out magazine editor Aaron Hicklin that Lambert didn’t want to be seen as “too gay” in the magazine devoted to being, well, openly gay.

Adam GLambert! New Album Cover Gets More Press Than Most Actual Albums

How much do I love American Idol‘s Adam Lambert? So much — he’s fearless, unapologetic about who he is and enormously freaking talented. And he also has a giant set of cojones, based on the album cover for his first-ever album. Could he have chosen a neutrally smiling shot, eased up on the eyeliner, Clay [...]
