Panel Nerds: Always The Bridesmaids
Kristen Wiig and Paul Feig say they’ve been surprised at how last year’s comedy hit Bridesmaids has been received by some critics. They are pleased by the overall reception of their film, but wonder why so many people wrongly called it a “female comedy,” when it’s “a comedy with women in it,” as Wiig characterized it. No matter, the film, which is now getting some Oscar buzz, may have paved the way for similar projects to get greenlit in the future.
Lady Gaga And Justin Timberlake’s SNL Sketch: Bring It Down To Liqueurvile
Yes, Lady Gaga is riding high on her HBO special and is currently the hottest act in the music scene. But for those who may not remember the early aughts, Justin Timberlake brought sexy back. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that tonight’s first sketch on Saturday Night Live that featured both Gaga and Timberlake was remarkably entertaining. Having Kristen Wiig play the Tea Bagger character didn’t hurt.
SNL Parodies Christine O’Donnell’s “I’m Not A Witch” Ad
The prospect of a candidate for political office designing an entire campaign ad around the fact that they’re not a witch was clearly too much for Saturday Night Live to resist…so they didn’t, and enlisted Kristen Wiig to play Christine O’Donnell and send up the much-talked-about ad.
Dispatches From The New Yorker Festival
This past weekend, Mediaite contributor Jasmine Moy took in the New Yorker Festival, one of the city’s hottest cultural tickets every fall, usually featuring very smart people sitting in chairs on stage, talking thoughtfully about smart things, for longer than five minutes and without interruption. Why is there so little of that on the telly? It even had its share of naughtiness: “They were small breasts, in keeping with the understated nature of the magazine.” If you want to find out the context for that remark, you’ll have to read on.
SNL Returns With Christine O’Donnell Masturbation Parody (VIDEO)
Saturday Night Live returned tonight and from the multitude of topics they had to choose from they opted for Christine O’Donnell. In the open O’Donnell, played by Kristen Wiig, is asked about her past transgressions by members of the RNC (Jason Sudeikis and Bill Hader) who want to make sure there will be no more media surprises before they agree to fund her. Suffice to say SNL is not afraid to play dirty.
SNL’s Leading Ladies Warm Up The Cold Open
The returning cast members and Betty White sing pretty on The Lawrence Welk Show, and try not to be repulsed by Kristen Wiig.
SNL Skewers Fox News (And Glenn Beck!) On Election (VIDEO)
Last night’s Saturday Night Live opened with a sketch spoofing Fox News, its coverage of the election — and, of course, Glenn Beck. With “appearances” by: Greta Van Susteren, Shep Smith, Brit Hume, Karl Rove and Juan Williams.
SNL Alum Movie Grosses: Eddie Murphy First, Tina Fey Last, Rob Schneider FTW
This is fantastic – the folks at Daily Fill & Movie Fill have done a major data cull, ranking SNL alumni by their total movie grosses and Rotten Tomato rankings. The results? Eddie Murphy dominates (thank you, Norbit), Tina Fey is in last place (but give her time), and Rob Schneider’s doing better than Will [...]
SNL Recap: Gaga, Madge & ScarJo (Plus Darrell Hammond, Permalancer)
Last night’s SNL was a good — and timely — one, complete with a pretty scathing takedown of President Obama‘s accomplishments so far in his almost-year in office. Never mind Madonna taking down Gaga by the throat. And no F-bombs! All in all, one of the best eps in recent memory. Videos and full recap inside.
SNL Dream Team: Lady Gaga and…MADONNA
Last night, SNL packed one hell of an A-list cameo: MADONNA. Made all the more A-list by the fact that she SANG WITH LADY GAGA. YouTube moment, achieved — but just to be safe, they both wore very little, had a hair-pulling girlfight and had an almost-kiss that turned into a pile on with Kenan Thompson and Andy Samberg. Zeitgeist, tapped.
Megan Fox on SNL: 35 Years of Hope On Her Shapely, Er, Shoulders
In its 34th season last year, SNL went mainstream — super mainstream. Thanks to Tina Fey‘s uncanny resemblance to Sarah Palin — a Vice-Presidential candidate who revealed herself to be a headline machine in one of the most riveting election seasons in U.S. history — SNL hit its stride with viral video after viral video, [...]
Mediaite Presents: 35 Great SNL News Spoofs
Long before The Daily Show, long before The Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live was making fun of the news in a way that no one had ever seen before.
In honor of the premiere of Season 35, we’ve pulled together 35 of SNL‘s choicest news anchor spoofs and Weekend Updates, from Baba Wawa to Fred Armisen‘s Joy Behar to the infamous Couric/Palin interview.
Who Said It? “I’m so heartbroken that the Internet, for the first time, was wrong about something.”
“I’m so heartbroken that the Internet, for the first time, was wrong about something. How are we ever going to trust the Internet again?” Who said it?
Mad Men‘s Kosher Karousel
“Nostalgia,” said Don Draper to the hushed and darkened room. “It’s delicate, but potent…Teddy told me that in Greek, nostalgia literally means the pain from an old wound. It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone.” Then he convinced a roomful of clients that calling it a Carousel might actually reinvent the wheel. Suckers!
We can’t speed time up and make it Sunday at 10 p.m. any faster than the Lord or Matthew Weiner willeth, but we can pull together a few videos that will slake your mighty thirst, momentarily.
