Lindsay Lohan somehow found herself generating cable news fodder today when she tweeted she was concerned about the Federal Reserve. Unfortunately for those who agreed with what they thought was a sincere political statement, that tweet was an advertisement. On The Last Word tonight, Lawrence O’Donnell and guest Dana Milbank explained how the youngest man ever accused of securities fraud got his hands on Lindsay Lohan’s Twitter.

Law-breaking pop starlet Lindsay Lohan may have cultivated an image as more of a hedonist than a proper libertarian, but her recent Twitter comments against the Federal Reserve are winning her all sort of new fans. Latest on that list is Fox Business’ Freedom Watch host Judge Andrew Napolitano, who told Neil Cavuto on Fox News’ Your World today he “loved” Lohan and that she “makes a very good point” about the Fed.

In an interview set to air on NBC’s Tonight Show Tuesday, Lindsay Lohan made her first public comments since a judge found her in violation of her probation and sentenced her to 120 days in jail. Lohan remains free on bail pending an appeal, and she told Leno she knows she’s “made a lot of mistakes,” but she’s “not a kid anymore.”

In a clip from the recorded interview that aired on NBC’s TODAY, Lohan says her career began to unravel thanks to “being young, and being in a position that I was in, you don’t really take the time to appreciate what you have.” She says she let others make decisions for her in a “whirlwind” and she says she’s “in the clear now.”

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan has been tormenting judges for years now, with violation after violation and probation after probation. On her latest affront to justice, she has been sentenced to community service at a morgue, though her alleged theft has been reduced to misdemeanor. During an interview on America’s Morning News, Senator Scott Brown was asked by radio host Amy Holmes whether he had any advice for troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, given the Senator credits tough talk with helping him get through a troubled time in his own youth.

“It’s funny you should mention that,” responded Brown. “I think about her a lot.” Huh?

As the final chapter to the thrilling saga of whether celebrity-in-peril Lindsay Lohan would or would not appear on David Letterman‘s talk show, Letterman last night admitted he was “duped” and offered an apology that his audience likely found more enjoyable than if Lohan had actually appeared to read a “Top Ten” list.

Yesterday, many eagerly reacted to the news that Lindsay Lohan would be appearing via satellite on the Late Show with David Letterman. Not only would it be Lohan’s first non-court house appearance in a long while, it would be on a show whose host had taken more than one occasion to get some laughs at her expense. However, today, CBS issued a statement saying that they had been duped and that Lohan would not be appearing on the show.

Dr. Drew Pinsky, who’s set to launch his new HLN show in March, tells the New York Post today he’s got a celebrity guest in mind: Lindsay Lohan.

When Joy Behar brought the comedian Andy Dick on to discuss Lindsay Lohan’s, she was clearly planning on having a light, jokey conversation. However, while the chyron at the bottom of the screen identified him as “The Unpredictable Andy Dick,” Dick ended up being most unpredictable is just how serious he was, giving a sobering discussion on his own problems with substance abuse, rehab, and jail. Behar initially tried to bring things back to the light side (she attempted an awkward joke about alcohol SCRAM anklets rusting), once Dick began telling stories about Robert Downey Jr. leaping over the rehab wall so he could smoke crack outside, there really wasn’t any turning back.

NBC Chief Legal Analyst (and Mediaite founder) Dan Abrams appeared on NBC’s Today this morning to discuss the possible reasons that the lawyer who had defended Lindsay Lohan was leaving the case. Shawn Chapman Holley revealed in a written statement that she called the judge’s sentence “harsh and unfair.” But did she quit the case because she was frustrated with Lohan’s behavior, flaunting the law? Lindsay Lohan’s court hearing is officially the news that keeps on giving. Yesterday, we reported that Lohan had painted a very pointed message on her nails, while today, WWD reports that her 90-day sentence may in fact help sales of her 6126 clothing line. But last night, while going through the photos of her at court — what? it’s entertaining in a schadenfreude sort of way! — we couldn’t help but notice that the future jailbird changed her outfit no less than three times throughout the day.
