Depending on what side of the political spectrum you fall, you might think a Sarah Palin/Glenn Beck 2012 ticket, were it come to pass, was either actual proof that the Mayans were right and 2012 is the year of the apocalypse, or that you are witnessing the political version of Super Friends.

Either way, it is an utterly unlikely scenario (but still really fun to think about.)

Was anyone not surprised to wake up this morning to news that President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize? Or wonder why exactly nine months into his presidency he’d been awarded it? The view from Twitter reveals a similar sense of amazement from media folk across the board. Also the growing sense that maybe Obama should consider turning the prize down. Take a look.

A tourist helicopter and small plane collided in mid-air over the Hudson River on Saturday — showering debris over the area and sending horrified onlookers to their Twitter accounts. The mainstream media joined in with live breaking news coverage shortly thereafter. But when a story like this breaks there is just no beating Twitter.
