Krystal Ball Photos Vs. Scott Brown Cosmo Spread: A Serious Double Standard

Congress 1st District

This morning Krystal Ball, the 28-year-old Democratic candidate for Congress in the first district of Virginia fired back in a statement accusing her critics of sexism. What happened to her, she said, is nothing unique – it could happen to any 28-year-old woman who grew up in the digital age – and they shouldn’t let their opponents use that to shame them into not running for office.

On Sunday, we summarized Scott Brown‘s high-profile sit down on This Week with Barbara Walters, but never addressed what is perhaps Brown’s biggest legacy so far. Could this be a Sunday Surprise — that is, a new and salacious media narrative only days before the contentious Massachusetts election? Sure, nudie pics didn’t derail the Scott Brown campaign, but a clip of the would-be Senator making the rounds on the blogs this weekend shows him wondering if Barack Obama might have been born out of wedlock. It’s problematic because the infamous so-called “birther” movement believes the same thing.

Republican Senate Candidate Scott Brown Posed Naked In Cosmo

Cosmopolitan dug through their archives to find a June 1982 issue featuring a very naked chap by the name of Scott Brown playing centerfold model. Flattering, in a certain light, but possibly problematic for Brown, who is running for Ted Kennedy‘s United States Senate seat in Massachusetts. “Vote for Brown. He Has One Hell of a Stimulus Package,” the lady mag suggests as a slogan.
