AG Eric Holder Chews Out GOP Rep: ‘Maybe This Is The Way You Do Things In Idaho Or Wherever You’re From’

video

During a hearing Thursday over the Fast and Furious scandal, Attorney General Eric Holder lit into GOP Congressman Raul Labrador, after he displayed slides depicting statements Holder made about President Bill Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich.

“That was among the worst things I’ve ever seen in Congress” Holder scolded. “There’s a whole bunch of things that I could say about what you just did, maybe this is the way you do things in Idaho or wherever you’re from, but understand something — I‘m proud of the work that I’ve done as attorney general of the United States, and looked at fairly, I think that I’ve done a pretty good job.”

RELATED: Sen. Jim DeMint: ‘I Think I Already Have’ Called For Holder’s Resignation

“Have I been perfect? No. Have I made mistakes? Yes,” Holder acknowledged. “Do I treat the members of this committee with respect? I always hope that I do. And what you have just done is if nothing else, disrespectful. And if you don‘t like me that’s one thing. You should respect the fact that I hold an office that is deserving of respect.”

“And you know, maybe you’re new to this committee, I don’t know, I don‘t know how long you’ve been here,” Holder continued. “But my hope would be that we can get beyond that kind of interaction, that kind of treatment of a witness whether it’s me or somebody else because I think what you just did was fundamentally unfair, just not right,”

Eric Holder ran the Waco and OK City Cover-ups .  He’s long overdue for prison!
    _________________________________________
The Obama Banda Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Badges!

The Obama Banda pretended they didn’t know
That ATF was buyin’ A.K.s at each gun show
    But it’s an indisputable fact
They violated the Arms Export Control Act
Selling guns to Drogas Cartell in ol’ Mexico.

The Arma Vendedor knew things were out of sorts
So they called up the ATF to file reports
ATF said “Let the sales go thru”
But in their gut, the sellers knew
ATF would betray, and they’d take it in the shorts!

But a couple of honest ATF agents balked
So Holder had these Desilusionados stalked
‘Cause he knew this EPIC FAIL
Could put the Obama crew in jail
If they went before the Congress and they talked!

Now they pressure the Yankee Prensa to ignore
This pre-meditated, covert act of border war,
But forty thousand dead a year
Is what Americans need to hear
So we can fill Guantanamo with Obama’s Arma Corredor!

Now Holder has a pack of subpoenas he has to gag
‘Cause they no longer have Congress in the bag
So they’ve come up with a plan
To blame the whole thing on Iran
And use it to justify an election year false flag.

It’s time for American peons to gather torch and pike
To hang these traitors, not protest or general strike!
    One thing history doesn’t hide
    Is Disarmament precedes Genocide
So get the ropes before they establish their Fourth Reich!

Just for pushing the Rich pardon alone, Holder should never have gotten the job.

Damaged goods that got way worse the more shifty moves that Holder has pulled.

.That’s how you treat them silly republican bastards up on the hill.

Idaho or wherever.  For the liberal elite, they are all just “flyover states.”  Too bad for Eric Holder that those flyover states will determine the November election.

  • Anonymous

Right Gloves and I’ll add he’s the racist in charge of the DOJ.  He has a chip on his shoulder that Paul Bunyon couldn’t knock off.  What is with these “educated liberal black men”.  So angry, so hateful and so bold in their attacks on everyone but themselves.

  • Anonymous

Holder’s ready to Go Postal…they’re getting to him.

    Keep it up, Idaho.

  • Mo Fokker

Maybe Raul Labrador can tell us how he feels about Republican governor Haley Barber pardoning four vicious killers and many others who had ties to power and wealth in Mississippi.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ERDSZOOPOITNDF3GS45TPSRZP4 Jeff

Mediaite at its finest. They have been ignoring this story for months because it makes Obama look bad. The family of the slain border officer just sued the DOJ 25 million dollars and no mention. No mention of all the proof that Holder lied about when he found out about this murderous scandal, no contempt for all the Friday evening data dumps this administration is famous for. Yet when Holder goes on the offensive (ridiculously I might say) Mediate finally reports it. Surprised Tommy (whats his real name) Christopher didnt report on this its such liberal bias.

  • Anonymous

This idea of the “liberal elites” sure gets bandied around much more than the Left calling red states “flyover states.” Growing up in the south and living in the northeast, I’ve seen firsthand that there are stupid biases from both sides. But it’s the Right that keeps trying to paint the Obama administration as elitists, when the GOP loves Romney (a rich Mass gov) and the Bushes (a wealthy family originally from Conn who pretend to be ranchers). It’s hard to imagine people more from the “elite” than those groups.

If the “non-elites” decide the election for the GOP, then they’ll be voting for another rich elitist come November.

If ever there was a incompetent fool that desperately needed firing, it’s Holder. He’s one, of a long list of incompetent appointments by the “incompetent in charge”, that hired this idiot!

  • Mo Fokker

I have read a number of articles on fast and furious on this site.  Does every site need to read like Fox Nation in order to be considered objective?

Hopefully, Congress will stay on top of this idiots until he’s forced out. Then they can look at the head of ICE, and Napolitano. Two more morons that need to be fired.

  • Centrist79

I am glad Holder stood up to this Tea Party hack from Idaho. There are mistakes that have been made by his department, but as long as Congress is not interested in getting the facts out to the public he has every right to  defend his character.

‘Maybe This Is The Way You Do Things In Idaho Or Wherever You’re From’

Raúl Labrador is from Puerto Rico. I’m sure there was no racist intention in Holder’s disparaging comment.

  • Anonymous

Way to go Mr. Holder.  It was great to see you put that uppity teabagger in his place.

  • Anonymous

It’s true. Many Republicans abhor classical music.

  • Anonymous

Even though it’s may not be what he was implying, could you imagine a Republican telling a native-born Puerto-Rican or any other minority to go back to “wherever you’re from”? Oh, the outrage and scandal the racist Republican’s comments would create.

  • Smack80

Wellll, Idaho-ian isn’t exactly a race. It really falls more into the category of when you’re trying to yell your kid’s name and every other name, including the dog’s comes out and you finally say, “whatever your name is”.

  • Smack80

Y’know, if we start getting rid of morons, they need to start with the voters who elect and re-elect them. Both parties.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08S4poMGvwA George Clueless Clooney

    What got Holder so upset?

Raúl Labrador cobbled together testimony from Holder going back ten years to establish
a “pattern” of Holder saying, in effect, “I don’t know” in testimony.

  • Smack80

I have the same problem! When you come from a large state on one of the coasts, all those little states in the middle tend to run together! Now I live in NM and have to remind people, especially on the East Coast that we are really part of the US.

  • D L

Only a liberal like James Crugnale would create a headline like that.

Imagine if a white Republican said to a black Democrat, “Maybe this is the way you do things in Baltimore/Detroit/Birmingham…”

I doubt a liberal like James Crugnale would call that “chewing out” a Democrat.

  • Anonymous

What a prima donna.  How dare Congress question this hero.  He’s above approach.  If you question his patriotism you are a racist and/or from some part of the country he’s never heard of or cared about before.

  • Anonymous

To a liberal elitist it may as well be.  I’m surprised he even knew Idaho was a state.  Obama hadn’t even bothered to learn how many states are in the union, and he’s the President!   To elitists only the major mega cities matter.  Everything else is hickville.

  • Anonymous

Wait, so a black, hack politician, disrespects an Hispanic politician and I’m supposed to say that the Hispanic politician is wrong and probably racist? Is this one of those situations were liberals compartmentalize people, by their views on abortion, to ensure that their heads don’t explode when trying to decide who to hate?

ISSA – This guy (like his boss) will LIE about anything!

    WHERE IS THE MEDIA?
Can you imagine the negative media coverage if this was Bush’s Administration?

Hold both the Media and Holder in Contempt, because both are contemptible!

  • Anonymous

WOW — Mediaite is working overtime to really pimp for the DNC today.
They must’ve gotten a big check in the mail to toss up this headline!

LOL — I love that it reads: “AG Eric Holder Chews Out GOP Rep: ‘Maybe This Is The Way You Do Things In Idaho Or Wherever You’re From’” to make it sound like HE was the wrongfully offended party and that HE was the righteous person who then put that darn GOP Rep back in his place…

…when the REAL TRUTH is, at the hearing, Holder got his ass completely handed to him. Not to mention he managed to dig an even deeper grave for his career by stonewalling the release of information yet again. But, hey, why toss up a headline that’s actually accurate when instead you can push the DNC party line to carry water for Obama a little more?

As for Holder, he’s dirty. Or dumb. Or more likely, he’s actually both. But for being the total disaster that he’s been, he’ll be gone soon — otherwise he (and the whole Fast and Furious story) is going to be a big weight around Obama’s neck come November, when more details about JUST how much Holder screwed up and JUST how much he then covered things up are all but guaranteed to get leaked by someone behind the scenes, one way or another.

Are you in prison somewhere? If you don’t support the laws of this country then you are a fool. Holder has locked the records of the dead border patrol agent killed by his incompetence.  The crappy media doesn’t bother to report that these guns killed an estimated 200 to 300 innocent Mexicans including women and children.

Holder works for the people of the United States not the other way around.  You need to seriously open your eyes, the media is playing you for a fool.

  • Anonymous

You need to understand that the idea that liberals are elitist is not based on some myth or misconception. It is based on the obvious fact that liberal politicians work to centralize power in their hands.  It is based on their insistence on running a nanny state in which they dictate to citizens how to run their lives.  It is based on their clear track record of taking power away from the states and centralizing in the hands of the federal government.

This is all patently obvious.   The liberals aren’t elites because conservatives like to “bandy about” with namecalling, but is a clear reflection of the way the liberal power structure actually acts — and has acted for more than a half-century.

If the Left wants to get rid of its reputation as elites, they need to quit trying to control every bloody decision in this country from their power bases in NY and DC.   And when they do that, I will be the first to applaud the decision and quit calling them out on their elitism.

Sure. That’s what Judge Napolitano (or one of his friends) told you but it is in no way based on empirical evidence. Take the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, which is something like 90 percent Hispanic and roughly the size of the United Arab Emirates. It’s solidly Left, and yet one of the poorest parts of the nation. Is that “elitist”? Have you ever been to a working class New England town? People there work blue collar jobs and yet vote Democrat down the line. They don’t do it because they are trying to “control every bloody decision in this country.” That’s just what their political opponents tell you is happening. They’re supporting the party that they think will give them a fairer shake through regulations meant to level the already drastically tilted playing field.

And just so you know where I’m coming from, I absolutely agree some regulations are overly burdensome and stupid. I absolutely think many in the Democratic Party are corrupt. I’ve grown up working class and I’ve also been among the wealthy in NY and DC and I’m not rich at all. The “elitist” Liberal is more caricature than real, although I know a few who could fit that description. I understand frustration against the Democrats. I just think (1) most of what the Republican talking heads say is a lie (2) you can’t solve the problem by deregulating everything and (3) Limbaugh & co have every incentive to scare you or try to piss you off because they want you to vote in an uneducated fashion.

To back up the third point, I can say this. If Limbaugh & the other talking heads had more legitimate complaints about the president, they wouldn’t have to keep going back to these ultimately petty and ridiculous snipes about him being an elitist Muslim Black Panther Kenyan, etc. Why can’t they actually discuss his policies in detail rather than demagogue? Because they’re not interested in being factually correct. They have an agenda.

I didn’t say that poor Democrat voters are elitist.  But people like Eric Holder, who want to concentrate power in their own hands, at the expense of the states and individuals are clearly elitist.

I repeat, if Democrat politicans don’t want to be called elitist, they need to stop trying to centralize power in their hands, and restrict decision-making in the 50 states.  They need to stop running a nanny-state.  They need to stop trampling on individual rights.  Until then, they have earned the label, and won’t be able to avoid it.

As for Gonzalez, “two wrongs don’t make a right.”  Pointing to someone else’s misdeeds as an excuse, is a poor excuse.

At least that read well and had a point.

I THINK, you are suggesting that America’s current problems come from corruption, on both sides of the aisle?  The word “corruption” in this instance can mean official, duplicitous “corruption” as well as the plain ole, lazy, “we’ve always done it that way,” “corruption.”

Either way, I agree with such an assessment.  However, since Obama took office America’s fiscal condition worsened, to put it mildly, and his foreign policy is one of passivity in a violent land scape.  (Yes, he did get Bin Laden)  Meaning he is a man of appeasement surrounded by enemies who view such as weakness.

It will nevr happen Jeff – this is a very newsy part of the story – tht and the fact that Holder has been caught lling – and mediaite puts up a headline about how Holder cornered a republican representative and took him down.  Nothing about Holder’s lies, nothing about Holder’s and the DOJ illegal acts – just that Holder stood up to a republican.

This makes Holder the hero to the left; to hell with the agent – it is clear the author of this piece could care less about the dead agent – nope, Holder is the hero the dead guy is just a second thought (or third, or fourth….).  This is what the media has become today – news gets shoved aside if it reflects poorly on Obama and his team.

    Sad, so sad.

    Quote:

    “Chews out holder?”

As far as “chewing out” goes that was fairly tepid, then again that is Holder’s demeanor.  I also considered the “insipid” to describe Holder, but, I would be venturing into ad hominem and I’d rather not.

Two salient cases regarding Holder that EVERY American should agree on that were mishandled, are the Black Panthers in front of the polling place in Philadelphia.  Also, the Fast and Furious, gun sale case we are currently discussing.

Both of these cases are an affront to every American and demonstrates gross malfeasance, not just incompetence, on Holder’s part.  Every one of us should demand he resign.  That issues as blatantly un-American as these, and we citizens cannot agree upon, is chilling.

By way of neutral principles, I can usually assess situations like this with objectivity, regardless, Holder has, in front of God and Country, offended all our sensibilities as Americans.

If they know he’s lying, they should bring forth their evidence and stop playing games. Everyone lies at some time or another. Sometimes it is not expedient to tell the truth. Sometimes we lie to sheild others. Other times there are things going on that can not be revealed at the present time. Even Issa has lied at times. No one is exempt. Before you say someone is lying, you need all the facts. I look at the basic integrity of that person both past and present. No one is perfect. I look at what comes out of their mouth because it reveals the condition of the heart. If what they say is akin to what I believe then I am on their side. Let the facts come out.

LOL  Barbour pardoned far too many people when he LEFT OFFICE, so while there was no need to call for him to step down, there was a HUGE outcry over his pardons.  Even now there are lawsuits going on that we hope will result in some of his pardons being revoked.  But to answer your question..yes, many conservatives were REALLY REALLY mad at Barbour for his foolish pardons!  But his actions do not come close to garbage that Holder has pulled!

  • Anonymous

Yes, under Bush there was a SIMILAR program, but when they realized immediately after the first sale, that they could not track the weapons the program was cancelled.  Someone under the Obama administration stumbled upon the failed Bush program and started it up again and did not care if they could track the weapons because their goal was NOT following up, it was creating chaos so they had a reason to crack down on gun ownership and gun sales.  Remember when Obama told one of his supporters that they were working on something “behind the scenes” when she questioned him about ending gun ownership?  He was no doubt talking about their “fast and furious” program.  Now it just needs to be proven in court.

  • Anonymous

Yes, a similar program WAS begun under Bush and was also CANCELED under Bush after the first transaction, when they realized they would not be able to track the weapons after they crossed the border.  Then when Obama took office they saw the failed and closed program of the Bush administration and decided to use the program as a means of creating chaos on the border so that they could call for more gun control measures.  Reopening the program, knowing they would not be able to track the weapons, was a deliberate attempt to force American’s into demanding new gun control and sales laws.  They got busted and now a lot of people are dead, because the Obama administration put their ideology above American and Mexican citizens lives.

  • Anonymous

Since Holder has refused to turn over the documents they have asked for, they cannot yet prove his was involved.  But eventually the facts will come out and Holder will hopefully end up in jail for his part in this crime.  It has become very obvious to anyone watching that Holder is lying about his part in this and since Obama has refused to demand the whole truth come out, I suspect the whole truth will point directly to his office!

It sounds as if Holder doesn’t realize respect is something that must be earned. Based on his job performance, he simply has not earned my respect. Of course, what he did was use a common debate strategy. Rather than identify which parts of the slide show he felt had taken his quotes out of context, he redirected the conversation by launching a personal attack on his accuser in a sad attempt to draw sympathy.

It’s not in the Congressional Record because the Bush Administration disclosed it.  It’s in the record because Issa and Burton brought it up when they were yelling at Holder.  This was before they decided to blame it all on this administration.  They were truly concerned that this was becoming some policy in government.

    LEEDOG,

I thought I was clear as I was referring too, “legitimate investigations.”  What those investigations uncover is another matter: truth, falsehood, or denial?

President Obama, has obfuscated many aspects of his personal life, educational and professional/political history.  Certainly there was enough vagary to merit an investigation for his birth certificate, college enrollment, friendships and associations, college and law school transcripts, etc…

Even the most obtuse minded person should find it curious as to why we can’t read Obama’s college and law school papers?  I am VERY proud of mine, especially my various philosophical treatises such as “Neutral Principle” as well as my 3.76 GPA.

As for comparing Gonzalez and Holder, first, such is poor argumentation form, to rationalize one mistake with another.  That being said, Eric Holder is indirectly responsible for at least two deaths of American Border Patrol Agents.  Furthermore, it appears he is now lying about it, or, at least guilty of “guilt by omission.”

Also, Holder failed to act with regard to the two Black Panthers standing in front of a Polling Station in Philly.  (But white Klansmen did that in 1962, in Birmingham, so its OK?)

Holder, is predisposed to inserting a political ideology into the United States Department of Justice.  That is despicable!

You want to talk about Gonzalez, first admit to Holder’s incompetence, then we’ll talk some more.

    You know,

You are respectful and curious when you talk with me and I appreciate that.  I try to return the favor, however, I think what bothers me the most though, respectfully, is why you and others are pulled in a particular direction? (Left)

I am pro choice, want marijuana (drugs?) legalized, think euthanasia should be voluntary and legal, want prayer out of schools, and I am very concerned about the environment. etc.

Those are generally considered left of center positions, but, I can tell you by way of neutral principle, (reason and logic, not emotion) why I hold these positions!  That makes me a Conservative/Libertarian.

As for you and your compatriots it seems as if you are dismissing the most egalitarian Constitution in history and are desirous of replacing such with something Socialist?

Socialism has been an abject failure anywhere it has reared its ugly head.  Whether it was Lenin, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, or Hugo Chavez, eventually the workers paradise becomes a despotic, murderous regime.  Obama is a Socialist, surrounded by Socialists and he has slowly, inexorably been consolidating power in the Executive branch and attempting to diminish power from the Legislative, thus minimizing the Constitution?

(Do I need to provide specifics such as, his Czars and his “executive orders” that circumvent Congress?)

Maybe, the Republicans are just as bad and fouled things up too, but  America’s Constitution is a sound platform with which to return too for guidance?

You discussed many topics, but of course, we agree on some of them and disagree on others!!

Based on what you said, you do sound like a Libertarian, you probably like Ron Paul?? I agree with Ron on more issues than I thought I would!!

We do have some forms of Socialism already being implemented in our society, example: You taxes go to the fire department to put out someone else’s fire!! Same with the police department and national defense!! Imagine if everyone had to pay for those services by having their own personal fire and police departments, they wouldn’t make sense!! Or if everyone on the coast had to pay for defense in case of an invasion!!

Some things we all need to contribute for the common good!!

As far as the executive branch having too much power, the Czar thing is kind of stupid, but really felt there was an over reach with the Patriot Act!!

I respect the Constitution and feel most Americans do, but also feel the Republicans aren’t concerned about strengthening the middle-class as much as they are for defending the wealthy in this country!!

I feel the Republican Party has shifted too far right!!

  • http://mediamatters.org/ Leedog

If Obama’s school record is not made public, yes it would possible look like there is something to hide!! However, his records or GPA really don’t hold too much relevance unless he lied about going to College in the first place… which he didn’t!!

As for his birth certificate, when you had the McCain camp, the Clinton camp during the 2008 elections and not to mention news outlets like Fox not finding out he wasn’t born in this country… then there was nothing to find!!

There was the birth announcement in the Hawaiian newspaper!! Obama used the issue to make the birthers look foolish once he released the certificate!!

In “Fast and Furious”, the program was flawed from the start and should have never been put in place!! Someone should be fired, but not Holder, the person directly in charge should be the one!!

If it is proven Holder intentional mislead Congress, then he should be fired!!

Many feel the Bush Administration used the Justice Department for his own agenda and Gonzalez allowed that to happen and embarrassed the department!!

    A busy Saturday, sorry.

The termis “deceit by omission.” As I mentioned in my earlier post, there is a history of “omissions,” that no other Presidential candidate, that I know of, let pass. As far as transcripts and writing, they say volumes about a man and his intellect. You’re rationalizing, which is easy to do when we believe in something.

The Birth certificate, papers combined with Obamas unsavory associations were only made worse by keeping such hidden. Conversely, I find it strange that despite all of these social and political faux pas, a plurality of Americans (you included, let such slide) Respectfully, that tells me about you? (again, respectfully)

As for Holder, when something goes wrong on a ship, no matter what, it’s ultimately the Captains fault. Traditionally, in the highest levels of Government that same standard applies. Anyway, The “stonewalling” alone is enough to make we citizens question Holder’s competence.

LEE, you and I have talked about “neutral principle,” no matter how hard it hurts, try applying it to your personal and professional life, also your political inclinations. Doing the right thing, applying equal protection is all about the truth. I think the most painful part is when YOU or I try to live by principle, but others do not. Breaks your heart!

    LEE,

No, I am not a Ron Paul fan, actually, I think his mind addled. I don’t say that flippantly, or as pejorative.

However, like you I see wisdom in some of views, the Federal Reserve and Treasury certainly need to watched more carefully, at least!

Your argument about fire departments, snow plows and Police being part of a Socialist Government is a convenient, hackneyed as well as fallacious argument. There are certain tasks that virtually Governments perform regardless of political inclination. Both East and West Germany had fire men and fire trucks?

The Czar issue, scares the hell out of me! In latin: “delagata non delagata,” meaning one cannot grant power to another, that one does not themselves posses. It all started with a Drug Czar and now look what we’ve got.

The Patriot Act was a necessary idea given the threat, however, within the borders of our Nation, there is always enough time to seek out a proper warrant so as to have a second opinion, so to speak.

Regarding the last two paragraphs: therein lies the rub? Remember my talking about economic treason? I believe that allowing jobs to leave the country and lower paid workers to come in, is a form of economic treason. Conversely, I think Unions have occasionally run amok forcing business to leave? Whether Conservative or Liberal, they both have contributed to the economic problems.

As any recovering alcoholic/addict will tell you, “the first step is admitting you’ve got a problem.” We’ve got a problem.

Good stuff, nice chat. Watch those demagogues? Ouch!

What does Justice Ginsberg’s interview with Egyptian TV tell you about her?

Apply neutral principle? The Supreme Court should be the last bastion of principle!

In a more sane world, former Attorney General Eric Holder would be the one being lectured — on how group showering is conducted in federal detention facilities.

Mediaite has the most boring and predictable stable of rightwads on the internet.

Blah blah liberals, blah blah Obama, blah blah Holder.
Not smart, not funny, not interesting.

You are why Reality leans to the left and continues just fine without you.
