Anthony Weiner Mocks British Reporter: I Feel Like I Just ‘Stepped Into A Monty Python Bit’

Anthony Weiner’s downward spiral continued this week as was caught on tape calling his GOP rival “grandpa” at an AARP event. Things got even stranger on Thursday when the New York mayoral candidate found himself engaged in an impromptu interview with British reporter Lucy Watson from ITV. As Watson asked him questions about his campaign and how his personal struggles have affected his chances, Weiner got increasingly agitated, telling Watson “it’s hard to take you seriously” and mimicking her British accent.

“This is what separates British media from American media,” Weiner remarked as Watson peppered him with questions while he was attempting to leave a campaign event. A visibly irritated Weiner balked at her questions about his “personal life,” saying, “you must be under the impression this is supposed to be easy, it’s not.”

But things really took a turn for the worse when Watson asked if it’s a “hunger for the big job” that keeps him going. “It’s hard to take you seriously,” Weiner replied, before mockingly repeating the way she said “hunger for the big job.”

“I just have a feeling I’ve stepped into a Monty Python bit,” Weiner said moments later. After attempting to answer her questions about what he can do for the people of New York, Weiner gamely offered to do the weather report for ITV. “It’s going to be rainy, cloudy and gray, so do what you can guys, try to keep your head up, and a stiff upper lip.”

If anyone turned this interview into a Monty Python sketch, it was Anthony Weiner.
