I am sure there is a protocol — they were already seated and uncovered, the Navy does not salute indoors. The gun salute was rendered to the President, and did not require all others to salute at the same time.  It would have been awkward if some had stood and saluted while others did not.

When a ship or fortress renders honors, not everyone else is required to stand at attention and salute. If an admiral’s ship is entering port, he could receive gun salutes from every ship at anchor, one after another, which might take a very long time.

In general, Social Security is a program whose primary purpose is to give a person back money taken from them, supposedly invested on their behalf.  They earned the money which the government pays back.  Similarly, unemployment was a payout from insurance paid while a person worked, hypothetically.

Welfare programs are intended to take money from others the government decides to tax to give to a person or family the government has decided to benefit. 

Unemployment and welfare appear to cost the US about $500B, of which unemployment appears to be $135B.  Welfare pays as much as $900/month to a family–not enough to pay for everything, but as much as max unemployment.

Well, I have spoken before fairly large audiences, Royal, often without notes and never with a teleprompter, and although I might insert a pause for dramatic effect somewhere in my remarks, it certainly wouldn’t be at the very beginning. I supported Bush right up until he did the wmd lie. Actually is wasn’t just Bush involved in that. I’m a student of “sound”.  Music, voice are my forte.  I have seen many good speakers and singers fail when faced with an audience.  

I’m sorry but the teleprompter incidents are not crap and not propaganda.  You can watch them and listen to them on many sites.  I was stating a fact from my vantage point about what happened with his “teleprompter” failure issues.  Denying his responses is silly and dishonest.  He is not a comfortable speaker which is just obvious to me.  That doesn’t make him stupid or anything else, it just acknowledges the fact that he needs a teleprompter.  He obviously doesn’t feel as comfortable with script in front of him.  The problem, as I see it, is he has figured out a way to deliver a speech which he feels works for him and that is to disengage from the words and just deliver.  His own coping method.  
I read a few months back that he had consulted a speech expert on refining his speech delivery.  

In the same vein, I realize what is wrong with Palin’s delivery at times.  It is her pitch which varies depending on her comfort level.  It’s much like why you prefer one singer over another even if both deliver a song perfectly.  I found great humor when Palin was caught with 3 words on her hand and ridiculed.  The woman was speaking from the heart and wanted to make sure she remembered those three points.  Now, you might have thought her points were nuts, but to ridicule someone who had the ability to speak “off the cuff” with 3 talking points was rather remarkable and yet it was spun as her being stupid.  

So, your effort to discard any criticism of Obama as “tea party” is far from honest and your denying that he has had issues indicates that you don’t trade in honesty.

I know what I am talking about because my husband is a retired army officer with successful command experience. I thank the good Lord every day that my husband decided to retire before this idiot was elected. My husband told me he just had a feeling that the Demoncrats were going to win in 2008 and after going through the disaster of the draft dodging Clinton foreign non-policy he decided he had seen enough destruction of the military. When he was serving in Bosnia my husband and his soldiers had nothing to sleep in but cardboard boxes. The one my husband slept in wasn’t even long enough for him to stretch out his legs in. (I’m now wondering if that is why my husband lost the feeling in his feet). That’s how poorly our soldiers were equipped by the draft dodger in chief for a war.

Some of us despise our current Idiot-in-Chief because he is destroying our childrens’ future by destroying the economy and printing so much money that the dollar is now almost worthless. That and taking health care away from soldiers and their families, particularly from our disabled child, makes us truly despise this man. Taking medical care away from disabled children is about as low as anyone can go as far as I’m concerned.
