Bill Bennett Is Not Buying Glenn Beck’s “Republican Problem”

Video

At the CPAC conference this weekend, Glenn Beck likened that Republicans to a bunch of alcoholics who “haven’t had their Jesus moment” yet and admitted they had a problem with big spending. Perfect Glenn Beck analogy: dramatic, baiting, and begging for an outraged response from within his own party. Tonight on The Situation Room, conservative writer and talk show host Bill Bennett begged to differ.

Bennett’s argument isn’t that the Republican Party is perfect or without problems, but that unlike Beck’s “entertaining” pronouncement, they’ve recognized that there are party issues with big budget spending. Also: Beck, stop being so bleak! Bennett’s steadfast that conservatives are on the offense and on the move, and we certainly agree that the only similarities between the two parties one might see right now is a whole bunch of in-party bickering.

I’m laughing that you are reporting this. I didn’t know you knew who Bill Bennet was at mediaite. Too funny.

Drew Grant………”Perfect Glenn Beck analogy: dramatic, baiting, and begging for an outraged response from within his own party.”

And this very typical of Bill Bennet is what you give us?

TfT, I suspect he doesn’t know Bennet, didn’t watch the video and just assumed it would be red meat for our seemingly absent liberal pack dogs today. :)

Grammie: I wonder why the Dallas Tea Party invitation to “White MSNBC” mocking Olbermann didn’t get posted on this board. That surprises me (NOT), yet they have time to post a Bill Bennet story! HA.

  • Grammie

I hope Drew Grant is reading the comments in his own thread and looks into it, Tina.

Here is a link to it at Hot Air, Drew, in case you missed it:

I bet you would get lots of action writing about that.

You teabaggers are always good for a laugh. No worries, I understand Glenn is chartering an airplane to Ghana…and you’re invited!!

Great to see Republicans pushing back!

The only similarities I see between the two parties is an adherence to economic policies that have repeatedly failed and rove this country into one disaster after another.

I went over to see the video, as I always check out both sides. It was kind of like saying global warming doesn’t exist because Al Gore has a big house and flies on airplanes, yawn

Kill the messenger anytime the truth comes out, although I wish Keith would drop it and let the pictures on the TV tell this particularly story.

The right avoids any responsibilities for their actions and policies by crying victim every time someone points out the obvious and reaffirms that Republican policies, let alone those of the further right, are anathema to the interests of minorities, women, non-christians, gays….

  • Grammie

Why would you as a courageous liberal who stands tall and looks all the facts straight in the eye advise KO to just drop it now that some of the people that he so blithely accused of being morally reprehensible invite him to come say it to their face, if he still can, after he sees their faces?

Hey, KO the Klown went after them in a long solo performance on national TV b/c he could, and his ratings stink like a rotten fish.

Now you don’t appeove of the people he insulted calling him on it in as public a way possible.

Do me a favor. Quit telling us all the time how righteous you libs are. If that dog ever hunted it sure don’t now!

Did you know Glenn Beck is actually a secret progressive because he actually self-educated himself at public libraries at some point? The nerve of a man railing against a federally regulated health care system(already massively regulated) that ultimately bankrupts the private sector and emulates western Europe, or a federally controlled system of taxing carbon dioxide emissions and granting them to ‘other’ companies, or opposing the bailouts of the Government Motors, Chrysler, or the banks(though he was for this for two days)… and all of this time he had a library card.

I watched that Dallas Tea Party video and all I left with was that Beetlejuice of Howard Stern fame is a teabagger. I’m not reconsidering my stance on the movement. Where do I sign up??

  • tjl

And by “not” I meant “now.” I was a little too excited!

I think its funny how people in the Republican party are so defensive when called out. There is a difference in the ideology in the two parties but not really much difference in their actions. Remember Bush was the first one to come up with a stimulas bill. Bill Bennett is the type of Republican that should eventually be purged from the party. As the party changes from Blue Bloods, to Blue Collar.( Joe the Plumber types). Right now the two party’s are just like two crime family’s in the Mafia Waring over turf. I see the Republicans losing this turf battle right now, as they are just as good at being “progressive” as the Democrat’s. Nobody wins in a spending game. you eventually run out of money, creditors, and followers…

  • The Real Royal King

    Did Bennett give odds?

… his ratings stink like a rotten fish.

I know over at the Klub, ratings are the end and any means are acceptable, indeed laudable. May I remind you that during his ministry among us, Jesus’ ratings in Jerusalem were very low? As a matter of fact, Herod seems to have been winning the Demo.

Of course, the analogy is silly. Olbermann is certainly not Jesus, and however Herod-like you may seem, you fall short.
