Bill Moyers Coming Out Of Retirement, May Return To PBS

Bill Moyers – whom you might remember from a number of publications and news programs, including PBS’ Bill Moyers Journal – may be coming back to public television after having supposedly retired around this time last year.

According to the New York Times‘ Media Decoder, Moyers has received “preliminary approval” for a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, which would allow him to return to PBS as host of a weekly, half-hour show tentatively titled Something Different with Bill Moyers. The Corporation’s board has voted on a grant that would give Moyers’ production company $2 million for a 29-month run.

In an email statement, Moyers clarified that PBS was only “one potential source of distribution,” and that no air date has been set.

“The former Newsweek editor and current Random House EVP had been co-hosting the show with ex-MSNBC anchor Alison Stewart since last May. The show, which has battled cancellation rumors, will now be solo-anchored by Stewart.”

Thank heavens. The only intelligent, thoughtful, trustworthy journalist in this country. It should be made mandatory for all Americans to watch him and learn about what’s going on in this country without all the insults, grand standing and stupidity that goes on TV and the internet and represents journalism. Just maybe if a few of you bad mouthers would watch him with an open mind you might learn something!

Moyers, a past winner of the Ellesworth Monkton Toohey award for journalists is another reason to NOT watch PBS.

I found that odd, too. That Mediaite would avoid that clip and story. It makes for good entertainment. Mediaite certainly has a lib tilt in what stories they choose to cover.
