Bill O’Reilly Takes On California Medical Marijuana Purveyors

Video

On his Wednesday night show, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly brought on Harborside Health Center executive director (/pot purveyor) Steve Deangelo and Andrew Deangelo to discuss — what else? — marijuana.

O’Reilly kicked things off by reminding his viewers that The Factor had been one of the first news programs to “expose the medical marijuana ruse in California.” Now, some medical marijuana dealers in the state are finding themselves in trouble with the federal government, which does not recognize California’s laws concerning sales of the substance.

RELATED: America Is Now A Pothead Majority: A Record 50% Of Americans Say Marijuana Should Be Legal

Steve, who says he uses medical marijuana himself to help with the pain associated with having a degenerative disc, shared that, while sales of medical marijuana are in the millions, his center is a non-profit and he makes a set salary. Andrew says he also uses marijuana to help with his glaucoma.

O’Reilly noted that some people are being prescribed marijuana to deal with anxiety… even though anxiety is something every human being deals with on nearly a daily basis. So, basically, he mused, anyone can obtain a card permitting them to buy cannabis legally in the state of California. The Deangelos countered by pointing out that many are prescribed often dangerous prescription drugs to deal with anxiety, some with side effects much worse than what would be experienced by taking a specified amount of cannabis. And, besides, you aren’t able to purchase marijuana with them without permission from a doctor.

Steve added that, while he doesn’t have the medical training to determine who has a “chronic” [Ed. note: LOL] case of anxiety, he does check with the medical board of California to ensure that the doctors their patients use are “licensed and in good standing.”

Andrew then weighed in, telling O’Reilly that he does not support the legalization of cannabis for recreational purposes.

“But you know what the ruse is,” said O’Reilly. “You know what the scam is. I’m anxious, give me the card.”

“I don’t want to go blind, Bill,” said Andrew, referring to his glaucoma. “I don’t want to go blind.”

You can get to know the Deangelos better and learn more about the discussion surrounding medical marijuana by watching Discovery’s Weed Wars.

Some collectives in San Diego are very well run. With a wink and a nod some are protected by city politics. Others make 60  grand a day. The collectives near the college are just fun stops for night. The stream of kids going in and out is endless. Theirs no additional crime to speak of in and around any of the collectives. I think we had around fifty in the county.
Why Obama flip flopped on the enforcement isn’t as big a mystery as it seems. Anything he says always has an expiration date especially when he’s finished using a particular group.

To make the pharmaceutical and alcohol companies rich.   To fill up public and private prison systems.  To help anti drug zealots get elected by declaring a war on drugs.  These are some of the reasons anti drug policies exist.  Since drug use has actually gone up since the drug war began, I don’t think anti drug policies are there to stop drug use.  If they are, then the anti drug policies must be seen as a failure.  Just ask Chris Christie a former federal prosecutor, who admitted that today.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.sappington Andrew Sappington

Not the act of getting high.  Who am I to tell somebody else what they can or cannot do?  If they get in the car and drive over the limit then they should be arrested.  If they are just getting high and not hurting anybody else, then go for it.  This is America, aren’t we supposed to be free to some extent.

In 3-5 years or sooner, marijuana will be legal nationally for two reasons. It is a powerful and very safe for reducing physical pain, and helping with glaucoma and many other conditions. Despite the usual rightwing hypocrisy, the overwhelming amounts of tax dollars and profits being generated by marijuana right now, guarantees that the government and tobacco businesses will work out a way to legalize marijuana for any and all uses.Prohibiition didn’t work with alcohol and it certainly isn’t working with marijuana. Also, I know a few people who have had accidents and marijuana has helped the healing process enormously.

I wonder if OReilly was one those kind of guys in High School who sought out “Pot Heads” and smoking lounge guy’s, just to beat them up?

Of course a six pack before, provided the courage, that and a 2 to 1 ratio of Jocks and smokers?

I wonder if that same kind of thing happened to Harris and Klebold in Colorado?  Some things just don’t change…

Marijuana should not be treated any different than wine in society. Adult activity is far better regulated that way than prohibition.

    Addendum:

I watch O’Reilly and am a fan, BUT, Bill does have his idiosyncrasies.  Bill is a prude, yet, he flirts with the pretty girls that are on his show.

Moreover, if Bill doesn’t understand a concept, that’s it, you are wrong and he’ll not tolerate dissent.  Legalization of Marijuana is case in point.  Smoking pot is unsavory to Bill, ergo, it must be for everyone else.  Sounds kind of like many Liberal issues?  Ouch!

Such a debate is ridiculous. All drugs should be made legal, once and for all. Prohibition of drugs is ONLY a tool for selling huge quantity of bad quality drugs, at high non taxed prices, to as much kids as possible. Prohibition leads also to corruption, black markets and grey money: it gives the power to the bandits. Prohibition transforms the planet into a big ‘Chicago’. We can already see the signs of this. Legalize and regulate, and you will see the disappearance of the “drug problem”, and of many other problems as well.

This is all so damned dumb.Pot should be legalized and unrestricted beyond the same restrictions as alcohol.

No arguement against pot holds up when compared to aspects of alcohol and tobacco.Legalization would allow funds be directed to drug efforts far more important and worthy.

Bill is way behind the curve here,as are many others.

Still,it doesn’t help the case when the people who are pro pot look like refugess from a 60′s commune, the love child of Willie Nelson and some flower child.

Yes, Bill anyone should be able to by marijuana legally , not just in the CA but in any state.

Bill is no fool. He knows his people do not like weed. And he gets ratings by appealing to what they want to hear. But I suspect that on a personal level, Bill is probably more libertarian than he lets on. Its crazy to make half the college students in America criminals, while plowing in like 30 billion a year fighting it, when we could be regulating it like alcohol and generating a valid industry, jobs and tax base.

Abrams (Are you CosmosDan?)  Again you showed no hair on your behind.  You need to show Dennis Miller clips

The Dennis Miller segment following this clip was great.  Miller started out by referring to one of these Pot clinic guys as “Tonto”.

Then Miller went on to describe our friend Barney Frank in the funniest terms ever. “Barney is not a nice man.” Abrams, you make a lot of money and likely didn’t have a Lie Mortgage. in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the

“I object to violence because when it appears to do

Depends if the “recycling” is mandated by law with harsh penalties?  So too with cigarettes, helmet laws, seat belt laws, the “CONDOM POLICE?”  Christmas Trees that have to be called “Holiday Trees!”  Liberals have become a modern day inquisition.

“Beware when pursuing the monster, lest he become you”   Fritz Nietzsche

The anti pollution initiatives of the 1960s, have turned into the very monster we once pursued?I recycle because I find it the proper thing to do, however, mandated recycling and “processing” for small businesses has caused a hardship on their ability to stay in business. If you don’t like smoke in a bar, then find a bar that the owner doesn’t allow smoking.  WHAT?  Can’t find one?  That should tell you something, build your own bar, or, mind your own business!  But, Liberals just seem to know what is right for everybody…LOL    (actually, it ain’t funny)!Purveyor

Ok ,recycling is reusing something. No waste. Maybe just reusing something like a old window for a shed or for a cold frame. That would save money. Conservative? I would say so. But liberal too in being open minding to the idea of recycling. I am not forced to recycle because the community here pays to remove trash by weight. We pay by the pound (ton) to get rid of our trash. So recycling is a good idea and benefits everyone .You are not forced to recycle except for dangerous waste(OMG communist pigs) We do have a limit on how much we can throw out. You have to pay extra. Some people would say this is part of a liberal agenda.Too many rules? In the old days we would burn are own trash.

Perhaps if a few geniuses from the Democrat party had enough brains to recognize that if you give mortgages to people with no jobs there might be potential for default. It’s funny.  Any idiot can see that.  Not, however, Democrat idiots.  They are a special breed of idiot.

Fanny and Freddie were set up to provide a place for Democrats to go after leaving public office. One of Barney’s lovers worked  there.  They can make a lot more money and still have no responsibility,

Barney’s friend used the names Fannie and Freddie as code messages for his gay escort service.  You could choose your date based on your preferences, either FANNIE or FREDDIE.

  • Anonymous

Late in Bush I’s first year, 1989, he revealed his anti-drug policy, a 5 billion dollar a year effort. The Democrats responded by saying that it should be 7 billion a year,
I’m thinking, 5 billion, 7 billion, it seems that not only are drugs a big business, but apparently, so is fighting drugs.

  • Anonymous

So out of nowhere, you’re trying to blame Democrats for the mortgage mess.
    Don’t even.

  • Anonymous

What planet have you been living on stevie?  Since you obviously are a Democrat I won’t waste my time trying to explain it.  You wouldn’t understand.  If you clowns spent some time studying instead of blindly slandering we might have more productive conversations.

Here’s a little primer.  Democrats believe that if everyone owned a house everyone would be responsible and not abandon their children.  So they make loans available guaranteed by Fannie and Freddie, no proof of employment, no down payment.  In 2003 Bush (your evil nemesis) wanted to introduce legislation to reform Fannie and Freddie, but Barney made sure it didn’t get started.  He said,”The will be no problem, Fannie and Freddie are sound.”  Fannie and Freddie then began selling bundled mortgages in the form of mortgage backed securities, very safe investments, except when millions of idiots with houses and no jobs started defaulting, investments in these bonds all over the world started tanking.

Yes, it was Democrats that caused your savings to go away. Don’t even!

    VOLT,

The word “COMMUNITY,” who is this “community”? Community is etymologically associated with “communism? The Capitalist (Conservative) would prefer a private business entity, do the recycling, NOT, the typically inefficient Government. (Ask John Stossel of FOX Business News)

As for “communist pigs,” when the Iron Curtain came down we saw pollution really looked like. Also, just go across the border to Mexico, or, even farther South to the Rain Forrest.

VOLT, you and I are on the same side here. The problem is I want Government to set the standards and a private company do the work, thus creating AMERICAN jobs. Up to a point, this scenario has been the engine that built America. Unfortunately, the multinationals and Bernie Madoff’s of today and “Robber Barron’s of the past, seem to be threshold where greed overcomes Nationalism and ethics? Hence, my theory looks bad to you?

Still, As a solution, I’d prefer to focus on the problem, rather than “throw out the baby with the bath water,” so to speak? The “Conservative” not only wants to maintain Capitalism, but, give such greater opportunity, as our manufacturing engine used to have, sans the “warts” of course. (with responsible policing and regulation, NOT, over-regulation))

The contemporary Liberal wants to give more power and responsibility to Government, which is called “Socialism.” Re-read my previous letter, the modern Liberal failing is the creation of politically correct, over regulation. Conversely, the modern Conservative “failing” has been the creation of Bernie Madoff and Dennis Kozlowsky of TYCO.

On balance, I’ll stick with the Nation created by my fore fathers: a Mercantilist, Capitalistic, inventive society that gave the world the modern incarnation of Demos.

“War is an ugly thing but not the most ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”

    John Stuart MIll

    VOLT,
Mill, was/is, one the more influential philosopher’s of my life. His “Essay On Liberty,” is always within easy reach, in my studio. Mill was a Libertarian, a women’s rights and suffrage proponent and he was against prohibition. I suspect Mill would find PC an offensive concept?

Moreover, Mill’s and Ghandi’s philosophy are NOT really at odds. In fact, I suggest that Ghandi was NOT a pacifist, rather, he was a warrior! People that hide under a blanket of “false pacifism,” are cowards?

dfs4, you are correct! There is a reason…

And that reason is to protect the synthetic chemical industry. The cotton industry. The Rx industry drug profits. Drugs “whose side affects may include…” up your death.

Cannabis was outlawed at the behest of WR Hurst who had in Harry Anslinger a political sock puppet. Hurst had lots of $$ invested in timber lands & the then fledgling DuPont synthetic chemical company.

Hurst was after non psychoactive hemp as it posed a vastly superior source of all kinds of products.Including paper Hurst would get from his timber stands.  Henry Ford made a car out of  hemp & fueled it with bio fuel made from hemp seed oil. Ole Hurst had a big problem in his quest to out law hemp. There was no good reason not to grow it. It wouldn’t get ya high.

So Hurst decided to link the smoking ‘get high’ cannabis to industrial hemp. Because they look exactly alike, he was able to con the law makers & general public into thinking hemp was the same as cannabis.

Then WR went on his Reefer Madness binge. The rest is history the USA should be very ashamed of, given all the deaths caused by prohibition. The war on drugs is a cover for a major attack on the Bill Of Rights.

Look up the history of cannabis prohibition. You will find in the 1st 13 it was often illegal NOT to grow hemp. Lots of folks back then used hemp & smoking cannabis. Mercy! Hemp & cannabis have been in use for 1000′s of years. No big problems.

Look for Ford’s hemp car at YouTube. Also search out the history of cannabis prohibition & the war on [some] drugs. You will learn a lot.

Not attacking or mocking. Educating. Played a bit at 1st but all in fun. No diss ment.

There in NO WAY [some] drug prohibition is about safety. If you look you will find that LEGAL synthetic Rx concoctions kill more people every year than the few the Rx industry doesn’t control. So does alcohol. So it is NOT about safety. It’s about having a corner on the market & keeping it free from competition.

Naw, pervayor, I set the record on another thread.:-)  I saw this one in my inbox as I was deleting messages. Saw it was Silly Billy spouting off about cannabis & couldn’t resist getting in a word or 10.

You are welcome, by the way. Yeah, Bill does have a good moment now & again. I wish he’d be those things to.

I had a pet peeve with Billy Boy for a while because he doesn’t do honest reasearch on the subject of cannabis & hemp. And he does not present an honest take on the subject either, probalby due to close mindedness which leads to lack of knowledge & understanding.

I think it’s because of , in part any way, ad $$ from Rx drug lords. The rest, for now, I have to chalk up to willful ignorance.

I was also already unhappy with Chilly Billy because he lies about Ron Paul’s foreign policy. He says snarky things about it & Ron, but does not show why. He has never said “OK. This is Ron Paul’s FP in Ron’s own words. Here is where it’s bad…”. Instead he does what a lot of people do who don’t do the looking. He makes uninformed comments that reflect fringe media ‘analysis’ rather than Ron’s actual FP.

I won’t watch much Fox ‘News’ since they kicked off Da Judge. So I will be way behind on B O’Rs shenanigans. :-)

I use cannabis for a back disease. The 60′s are history. I learned a lot. One important lesson, beware of drugs. I don’t worry about cannabis because it won’t hurt me. I don’t sit around getting medicated all day, like in the 60′s. I very seldom use it in the day. I use it for sleep as I have insomnia.

Also helps relax my neck so I can exercise it pain free more than if I had no pain med. I am very wary of Rx stuff. I have never been addicted to any thing, I wanna keep it that way. I guess you could say I am a 60′s survivor.

    Ha  HA HA HA

Retnug, your point is very well taken, and endorsed….LOL.  I can see the commercials now-
beautiful nubile young woman promoting the benefits of pot, maybe standing beside a sporty vehicle, clad in less…

Now this picture appeals to my senses (pun intended), rather than the harsh used up looks
of the 60′s crowd, that have over indulged in more than just pot.

This thread will be a joy for it’s duration, no?
