CNN Law Enforcement Expert Has Had it with Baltimore’s Anti-Cop Rhetoric
CNN law enforcement expert Tom Fuentes apparently had to listen to a protester with a megaphone holler anti-police rhetoric for a spell on Sunday, and by the time he got to talking about it with host Michael Smerconish, he was done. He and the three other CNN figures had been reporting/commentating outside from Baltimore all morning, and it’s possible everyone was just cranky.
“What the gentleman here with the bullhorn was shouting in front of several thousand people who were cheering him was all police are pigs, all police are bad,” he said. “And everybody should be let out of jail and all police should be eliminated or put in jail. I had to listen to that for two hours, so — it was enough!”
CNN justice reporter Evan Perez tried to interject. “He doesn’t represent—”
“That’s be true if they stood silent and ignored him,” Fuentes said. “But there were about couple thousand people on this grass lawn cheering every time he said we don’t need the police.”
“If you talk to people around here, they do not agree with that,” Perez said. “They want to be able to call the police and get help when they need it.”
“They do when they get home,” Fuentes said. Remember, you must be either pro-police or anti-police, and it’s impossible to uphold the need for law enforcement while critiquing its tactics.
