CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin Hit In Face With Light Stand After Making First SCOTUS Prediction Since ‘Obamacare’
CNN’s legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin declined to make a prediction following yesterday’s arguments in the Supreme Court for and against gay marriage. He said that, after calling the government’s case in their argument for the constitutionality of health care reform a “plane wreck” and a “train wreck” that he was out of the prediction business. Today, however, Toobin decided to wade back into the prediction market when he declared that the Defense of Marriage Act was “in trouble.” The fates apparently did not take kindly to Toobin’s declaration and promptly smote him by sending a lighting fixture directly into his face.
“I think DOMA’s in trouble,” Toobin declared. He said that Justice Anthony Kennedy, often the Court’s swing vote, appeared deeply concerned that the law restricting gay couple’s access to federal benefits was a violation of state’s rights.
He said that Kennedy appeared willing to vote with the Court’s liberal Justices to strike down the law.
The unseen forces that govern this world did not take kindly to Toobin’s prediction, evidently, as the CNN analyst was promptly struck in the face by an errant piece of lighting equipment.
“I find I’m thinking more clearly now,” Toobin said after recovering from the impact.
