Daily Show’s Samantha Bee Exposes Medicare’s $172 Million Penis Pump Problem

Last night, Samantha Bee taught The Daily Show viewers way more than they ever wanted to know about federally funded penis pumps. With Medicare spending $172 million on penis pumps over the last five years, Bee set out to find out why nobody seems to notice or care.

With conservatives complaining that Obamacare forces insurance companies to cover women’s health, why have they never had a problem with Medicare covering erectile dysfunction drugs, let alone penis pumps? “Women’s selfish desire for sexual health and gynecological exams pales in comparison to men’s need to deal with erectile dysfunction,” Bee explained.

She managed to find women to represent both sides of this debate, including sexual health expert Beatty Cohan, who gamely helped Bee when he got a penis pump attached to her face.

On the other side, NARAL president Ilyse Hogue told Bee, “Statistics show that probably some members of our congress have a vested interest in having penis pumps covered.”
