Dana Loesch: Media and ‘Progressive Left’ Are to Blame for Violence Against Reporters

In the wake of newly elected Montana lawmaker Greg Gianforte’s body-slam of Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs, most pundits took to the airwaves to condemn the assault, and a few pointed to President Donald Trump’s encouraging of hostility towards the press as creating the climate for such incidents.

Enter Dana Loesch — NRA spokesperson and foot-soldier in the War on Women — with the hottest take: Gianforte’s assault on Jacobs can be blamed on the media and the “violent progressive left.”

In an segment with Tucker Carlson that may as well have been titled ‘But The Left!’, Loesch was careful to note that while Gianforte “behaved wrongly,” the media “in some respects, is culpable.”

“The violent progressive left is in some respects culpable,” Loesch added.

She went on to claim that the media has “underreported, and in some cases not reported at all, the violent behavior of many on the progressive left.”

Loesch then defiantly argued Gianforte’s body-slam could have been avoided if only the media had covered progressive violence in the last two decades:

“Would we even be having this conversation about Greg Gianforte, and the anger of so many people in America if media had done their job in the past 10, 20 years? If they hadn’t looked the other way at all of the violent actions that we have seen so many progressive leftists commit?”

That’s when Carlson chimed in, pointing out that the left even celebrates these violent actions, noting this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade will honor the former leader of a terrorist organization.

But Loesch wasn’t finished: “Everyone wants to talk about President Trump, but let’s discuss Tom Perez and his ‘cussing crusade’ that he’s been giving on so many different fundraisers,” she continued, referring to the DNC chairman’s affinity for cursing.

She also noted that many people have called into her radio show to say that “maybe the media deserves” violence, because “they’ve gone out to try and ruin people’s lives.”

After some prodding from Carlson, Loesch ultimately conceded that “the ultimate goal” should be to use “reason and logic to appeal to hearts and minds.”

These calls to reject inciting violence come from the same NRA spokeswoman who recently starred in a remarkably terrifying gun-selling ad/doomsday preview, calling to fight the media’s “violence of lies” with the “clenched fist of truth”:
