Fox Anchor: Will Anti-Abortion Amendment Lead To “Low-Income Babies”?

video

fox_anchor_abortionOn America’s Newsroom yesterday, host Alisyn Camerota asked her guests about the recent amendment to the Senate health care bill that would prohibit the use of federal funds to subsidize abortions, and it’s affect on “low-income women.” Camerota asked: “If there is no federal money used to subsidize abortions for low-income women, doesn’t that mean there will be more low-income babies?”

The question was given to Kate Obenshain who is part of Young America’s Foundation. She seemed surprised by the line of inquiry, stammering a bit before clarifying, “Do you mean because more children will be born because the government won’t pay to have them terminated?”

That was a good question. A very good question.

  • SWWT

… that was a horrible question.

Any honest question is a good question IMO.

To justify government funded abortion, or to provide it as a right, because low-income women would create more low-income children is ludicrous. Beckel should have answered this.

This subject is especially sensitive with how morally reprehensible many people in this country find it, a majority now. That is what separates the issue from all others, its morality. That’s why taxpayer money should NEVER be spent on it.. start a charity to help poor people get abortions, don’t use my money to do it.. maybe they’ll learn a lesson out of it, I sure as hell know I would.

Yes, I am pro choice. No, I don’t think tax payers money should be used to fund abortions. I work for a non profit women’s organization and only “two” clients out of hundreds last year chose abortion. Many more kept children that they could not afford to keep and would be raised with YOUR tax dollars. NO, I don’t believe in abortion as a method of birth control. Instead of the media making this a black and white issue maybe they should investigate more details of what happens in the real world. Oh, that would be hard work!! The answer to the question is YES.

Find me one pro-life person who wouldn’t pay taxes to PREVENT abortions, that’s the difference on the issue, that is morality. I would imagine most of the women that go to that organization would find the common sense against abortion.. what benefit that is over adoption is far beyond my intellect to understand I’m sure. But there are people Irene Vilar.

I think the question points out the trouble with the abortion issue. There are good points to be made on both sides of the aisle… and no easy answers.

@rmbltmbl Adoption is the best choice of course. However, most of the children born to low income women are what one might call un-adoptable. For some reason Americans would rather adopt Chinese babies or babies from other countries than babies from this country. I have know people that adopted 2 or even 3 babies from China. Another fact most people would not believe is that there are far more white women than any other minority that find themselves in this situation.

    NO easy answers.

Actually it is pretty simple — abortion is an elective procedure* in a the huge majority of cases and taxpayers shouldn’t be expected to pay for them anymore than a facelift or boob job** if someone decides that will make their life better/happier/whatever.

*Of course the exception is if the mother’s life is at stake and that, along with cases of rape and incest, is covered in the abortion amendments to the health bill.

**Yes, I’m more than happy to have my tax dollars help a woman who has reconstruction due to cancer/mastectomy.

I was just about to give Alisyn the “Stupid Twit of the Year” award for her very goofy question when, lo and behold, Barbara Boxer slithers out from under her rock and said of Insurance coverage: “If you cover Viagra, Cover Abortion.” I think my head exploded. This silly, totally ignorant, pathetic excuse for a human being was actually equating Birth Control with Abortion! Unbelievable! We WILL take back our Government from these parasites in 2010 and 2012!

  • fanofamerica

Don’t let the insane Boxer cause your head to explode Sunnyr — she’s not worth it. She and her like are so morally corrupt that in their crazy world they actually believe erectile dysfunction (a medical condition) and abortion (a life ending procedure) are comparable issues. Probably based on the Supreme Court decision that resolved the grave moral dilemma of whether it should be legal or not for men to take a little blue pill. /sarc.
