GOP Sen. Jerry Moran Accidentally Votes ‘Yes’ On Immigration Reform, Senate Erupts In Laughter
Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) accidentally voted “yes” during Thursday’s Senate vote on the so-called “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill. While quickly correcting his mistaken vote, the chamber erupted into laughter.
Moran meant to cast a “nay” vote along with the other 31 GOP Senators who are opposed to this immigration reform proposal. “I’m sorry, no,” he said immediately after standing and saying “Aye” upon his turn.
After the roll call concluded, Moran reportedly double-checked with the clerk that his vote was registered as an official “no.”
The bill passed through the Senate by a 68-32 margin, and will move onto the more skeptical House, which will likely consider its own version of the legislation.
