Keith Olbermann Tells Glenn Beck “Go To Hell” For “Making Light Of 9/11″
Last night, Countdown host Keith Olbermann named Beck his “Worst Person” in the recurring segment, which in itself is not news. But last night he used language that rarely, if ever, is used towards another person on a news program. After calling out Beck for “invoking 9/11 just to oppose health care reform,” Olbermann ended by telling him to “Go to Hell.” Wow.
Olbermann first quoted Beck as saying:
“Ten years ago, I could have shouted every single day about Usama bin Laden and his wacky, crazy threats to kill Americans in New York and no one would have been willing to stand in line two hours while some security officer made grandma take off her shoes. Today, things are different. America is changing. We’re not letting you get away with it anymore. …The 912ers are willing to stand in line and take off our shoes before the towers hit the plane.”
Olbermann’s response: “Beck … shark … jump. You and the 9/12ers have the nerve to exploit 9/11 for your lousy TV ratings. You can not make light of 9/11, nor bandy about as if your petty political grievances are comparable to it, and still be an actual patriotic American. In short, Glenn, 9/12ers, if you are invoking 9/11 just to oppose health care reform, go to hell.”

Is this the beginning of the meltdown?
According to Olbermannwatch, he also call Joe Wilson (of “you lie” fame) a “sanctimonious son of a bitch” on the air last night.
Beck is an idiot. The saying is not “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me”. The saying goes “Fool me once, shame on…..(long pause)…shame on you. Fool me tw…can’t get fooled again”. Get it right, willya?
One of the times where I cannot agree more with Olbermann. How’s what Beck said any different from what bin Laden says on a daily basis? Osama can take Glenn with him once he goes down there.
TfT,
The only person experiencing a meltdown is Beck. And anyone who defends him when he casually invokes 9/11 needs to get their prescription meds refilled.
JunkJunk, get a life and stop watching Olbermann. There must be something better to do with your time. But if you insist on observing rabid dogs, maybe you should go to the nearest pound and volunteer your time.
Colby, what a great Piece! I am so impressed with your in depth research, and the conclusion you reach is so enlightening. I feel like I have actually had a moment of learning through your piece. My only complaint would be perhaps the Title of the piece should have Been…” Watching My Blowhard BFF, slip into a mental delusion while amazingly NOT slipping off his soap box while covering the Election, I mean ummm ehhr, the Best World Series Moments. ” Wow.
Thanks realitycheck! Not sure, though, why you believe this piece supports Olbermann. He told Glenn Beck to go to hell. That language is rarely, if ever, used towards another person on a news program. I said wow because, its pretty stunning language, regardless of anything. Isn’t it?
*BREAKING NEWS*
On Thursday’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann,” (Keith will be out Wednesday, spending the evening in the tub, so he doesn’t have to report on the VA and NJ race), Keith will call Rush Limbaugh a “poopy pants,” followed by an in-depth analysis of Bill O’Reilly where he will tell him he’s a “loser” and threaten to break all his toys, if they ever meet in person.
Another hard hitting evening, on “Countdown!”
_________
What a dope. Olbermann continues to make Beck look better and better, when this is the best he can come up with.
Colby, I have seen Olbermann in the past and your wrong! He has said horrible things about other people and saying “Go to Hell” is very small compared what personal attacks he has done on Bush, Coulter and Palin. I agree with Realitycheck you wrote about junk.
Firstly, calling Countdown a news program, would highlight your support. While the election results were coming in Olbermann was counting down the top World series Moments, or smartest plays, whatever, because that obviously couldn’t wait until Wednesday Program. MSNBC can’t promote their shows as the place for politics, and then pick & choose election results.
Secondly, Language Rarely used? If ever? That Is Laughable. In Olbermanns bubble world Fox news doesn’t exist but yet, he uses that same rancor towards Fox News nightly. nightly. nothing new. For the sake of time and space, we won’t even indulge in his fervor for all things Palin, Bush, Cheney, Fox News Viewers, and the Grand Daddy’s O Reilly & Limbaugh. If you have access to the internet, do a Google Search, last night was tame.
Seriously, How much TV time did he spend on the World Series, on an election night? Political show, or Sportscaster… you decide.
Well, hkyplayer… Olbermann also said, “Shut the hell up,” to President Bush on his show… and then later commented the only reason he said that was because his producers wouldn’t let him say, “Shut the f**k up.”
I think that’s a little worse… but you know, it’s Olbermann… so the same kind of media scrutiny need not apply. O’Reilly says “Boo,” and it gets a write up… KO, not so much.
I would like to invite Keith Olbermann to go to hell also, for the mere crime of existing.
Wow, Olby really gave the game away when he brought up Beck’s ratings.
I can’t believe anyone watches Olbermann! Glenn Beck thanks you, I am sure, for adding another few thousand people to the 3 MILLION PLUS who tune in to his show every day, Keith. You blithering idiot!
Beck Rocks, Olbermann SUX! End of story.
I think Beck’s comment is very stupid but isn’t Olbermann the guy who told Playboy that Fox was more dangerous than Al-Qaeda or the KKK had ever been, advised the president of the U.S. to “shut the hell up” based on a dishonestly edited NBC News clip, said Obama should go into a room with Hillary Clinton and “come out alone,” referred to Michelle Malkin as a “mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick,” and labels people who write or say things he doesn’t like “The Worst Person in the World?” Let’s develop some self-awareness vis a vis hyperbolic language Keith.
Stephen Colbert: ‘Sarah Palin is a F***king Retard’

The usually reliable Keith Olbermann's inability to nail Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin on Limbaugh's use of the term "retard" has been pretty frustrating. Sure, he has posited Palin as a hypocrite, but several times he has repeated Rush's and Palin's dueling assertions that he was "quoting" Rahm Emanuel, or that he was being "satirical," without really challenging it. Luckily, Stephen Colbert actually knows what the word "satire" means, and deployed a pile of it on Palin and Rush last night.
Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart Fail to Eviscerate Sarah Palin
Hyperbole must be over. How else does one explain the extremely disappointing bits that Jon Stewart and Keith Olbermann did on Sarah Palin last night? Handed (thank you, I'm here all week) 3 days of Palin material that rivaled anything George W. Bush ever gave them, Olbermann could barely manage a molecule of spittle, let alone a lather, and Stewart deployed his seldom-used Nerf™ jokes.
