Miss America 2012 Is Crowned In Las Vegas, And The Winner Is…
Laura Kaeppeler, representing the state of Wisconsin, was crowned Miss America Saturday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kaeppeler, 23, beat out 53 other contestants and takes over the crown from Teresa Scanlan, who, as a then-17 year-old Miss Nebraska, became the youngest woman ever to win the pageant, in 2011.
Finishing second was Miss Oklahoma, Betty Thompson. In third was Miss New York, Kaitlin Monte. This was the 91st Miss America Pageant.
Kaeppeler becomes the first Miss Wisconsin to take home the crown since 1972, when Terry Anne Meeuwsen, now co-host of The 700 Club, won the title.
