MSNBC: Bart Stupak Called ‘Baby Killer’ By GOP Rep On House Floor

video

In an indication of just how polarized our politics have become, pro-life Democrat Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), who held out until the last minute for more restrictive language on federal funding for abortion, was called a “baby-killer” as he spoke on the House floor tonight.

According to MSNBC’s Luke Russert, the shout came from the Republican side, from an as-yet-unidentified southern Rep. Like Joe “You lie!” Wilson, the heckler should reap a fundraising windfall once he is identified. This might also send a message to other Democrats who might be tempted to make common cause with their GOP colleagues.

At least that’s not as bad as what Rachel Maddow and other leftist haters said about him.

  • The Real Royal King

I wish I could shake my head and say, “Unbelievable!” I can’t.

What has happened with the Republican party, the genteel, patrician party? Reasonable. Mannerly.

And, Azarkhan, I don’t know what Rachel and others said. Something inappropriate, I am sure. But there is something very different from a media personality doing this and a member of our Congress, on the House floor, the very temple of our democracy. There is no excuse. And, it’s sickening.

  • marcus.lewis

Maddow did not say anything close to accusing Stupak of killing babies. She questioned, rightfully so, his relationship with the family and how he paid his rent. I’m still curious as to the truth.

  • MichelleF

I got news for you lefties, if you kill a child, even before it’s born, I’m quite certain in God’s eyes it’s considered murder. But I guess we will all find out in the end, who was right. And don’t be so offended with what was said, I could fill up a whole page with quotes from dems saying reps are murderers. Let me know if you want me to start my list.

  • JamesA1102

I’m quite certain in God’s eyes

Didn’t know you were authorized to speak for God. But since you are can you get next week’s winning Powerball numbers for me?

  • MichelleF

As I stated James, we will all see who was correct in the end. I will stand before God knowing I would never support the slaughter of innocent life. Can you say the same?

  • JamesA1102

    Can you say the same?

    Yes I can.

I would never support the slaughter of innocent life.

So I guess you were against the Iraq war which killed thousands of innocent Iraqis.

Now get to work on those Powerball numbers.

  • marcus.lewis

To be fair, you believe you will stand before God. As you stated regarding the racial incident yesterday, we can’t know unless there’s proof. Pretty sure God hasn’t come back yet–so it is impossible to state as a fact that we will stand before him. Hell, how do we know we’ll stand? What if he has a nice lazy-boy that we get to recline in.

  • MichelleF

Yes, I was against Saddam’s slaughter of his people. But as you know, i was talking about the slaughter of innocent unborn children. And the way you are dancing around that, I cann see where you stand on that. Maybe you a Teddy Kennedy can share a bunk in the next life.

  • MichelleF

Here’s some proof for you marcus:

    http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/03/state-run-media-now-reporting-racist-propaganda-from-huffington-post-as-fact/

We all know that if there were proof, the media would be playing it 24/7/

  • JamesA1102

But as you know, i was talking about the slaughter of innocent unborn children.

So the slaughter of innocent Iraqi children doesn’t count. Nice double standard.

And the way you are dancing around that, I cann see where you stand on that.

How is a direct Yes answer, dancing around anything. You really seem to create your own reality.

Maybe you a Teddy Kennedy can share a bunk in the next life.

I would be proud to. He was a great American.

  • MichelleF

I’m not surprised you feel that way. I’ll bet Mary Jo’s parents do not share that view.

Way to slam our military. Lucky for you, they still fight for your freedom to call them murderers. I’m done talking to you now.

  • marcus.lewis

Right because what republican would turn over their film with the audio of someone calling a representative of congress a nigger?

  • MichelleF

CNN had camera’s there marcus, why weren’t they able to get it either? You know for a fact there were carmeras everywhere and if they had video proof they would run with it.

  • JamesA1102

I’ll bet Mary Jo’s parents do not share that view.

John McCain, Orin Hatch and many Republicans share that view.

Way to slam our military. Lucky for you, they still fight for your freedom to call them murderers.

Not slaming the military but their commander in chief who put their lives in danger in a war that had noting to do with our freedom. Many of their lives were slaughtered too. Surprized you’re not more concerned about them.

I’m done talking to you now.

Typical, when faced with reality and your own hypocrisy, you bail.

Well, why doesn’t the Republican party stand for free post-natal care and guaranteeing access to healthcare for both the infant and the mother?

  • marcus.lewis

Okay so there is no proof…so it never happened. Prove to me there’s a God and you are going to be judged by him, or its also not true.

  • felixw

What hypocrisy! The left vilifies Bart Stupak. Rachel Maddow devotes lengthy segments to sliming him. “Stupak lives in a brothel,” etc.

And then when votes for Obamacare, the Left immediately rushes to defend him against vile attacks. Yes, the same people who were dishing out the vile attacks at him only a nanosecond before.

Give credit where it is due. Whoever shouted out this comment is the only person involved in this story who hasn’t done a flip-flop, and seems to have core convictions that don’t shift with the political winds.

  • marcus.lewis

He deserves attacked for being part of ‘The Family’.

  • MichelleF

To be clear, we don’t know IF it was said, and if it was WHO said it. I have a problem with your comment for the same reason I had a problem with Steele’s comment about the “situation”. Before you condemn or make excuses for someone, shouldn’t we know that truth of what really happened? As I’ve stated before, even it it was said, it doesn’t mean it was a conservative. As I listed on another thread regarding this, there have been many cases of libs posing as conservatives.

  • MichelleF

Stephen, I spoke to someone just today who has a young woman living with her who is unemployed and pregnant with her third child and she in fact DOES get government assistance.

  • marcus.lewis

    Those socialist scum

  • MichelleF

My point, as I’m sure you know, was that there are already programs in place for that, no need for the gov’t to take over the whole system.

  • marcus.lewis

Your point is just factually wrong Michelle. I guess we will just have to let this play out in order for you to believe it. Government is hardly taking over the whole system, they are allowing more people to be covered by insurance and allowing people to pool together in an exchange in order to lower the costs of insurance by reducing risk.

  • m

    >Government is hardly taking over the whole system

I WISH! This is as far away as reform can be from universal health care or a government takeover. This bill is an incredible improvement, but there’s so much more to do…

  • LGM25C

Certainly, it will be revealed who took the weak, and cheap shot at Mr. Stupak. Calling someone a name like that on a nationally televised debate will not be without major ramifications. Like Wilson of S.C. ( You Lie ) fame, this moron is week minded and probably has an ego the size of Texas. Of course he never has served his country in the Military and also is a hypocrite, and likely racist. When far right wing extremist become frustrated in a public forum, it likely leads to bitterness, anger and rage. Unchecked, this has historically been a recipe for disaster. See Hitler, Tojo, Stalin, and many others. If they are allowed to keep going right, they end up like the Muslim extremist who wish to kill any who stand in the way. Unfortunatley, the Republicans tried to instill Fear and Lies as a response to Health care reform and obstruct the process. If they would of been more statesman like, the provision they had concerns at the 12th hour would have never been an issue.
    Just Sad!!!

  • TylerDurdin

    He is a baby killer.

  • Fidoohki

He’s a Democrat. They never met a position they couldn’t flip flop on.:)

  • timzank

Oh for Christs sake, the Senate Majority Leader, just a few years ago called the sitting President a loser on national television. All throughout our history as a nation from day one, sitting politicians have yelled, ranted, raved and called each other names on the floor. It’s normal.

Is this your first rodeo? This shit happens in every single administration so quit acting like it’s “unprecedented” ya bunch of wussies. Stupak is a liar and an idiot, and unfortunately for him, he is now responsible for indirectly contributing millions of our federal tax dollars being to be spent yanking babies from their wombs with a forceps.

  • MichelleF

LGM25C, uh Joe Wilson was right.

  • http://www.anonymousfinch.com AnonymousFinch

I don’t like the shouting out on the House floor. I believe in decorum. But both parties routinely violate the standard of decorum I would hold them to.

That being said, it doesn’t really matter what anybody on this board thinks about abortion. The fact of the matter is bart Stupak was, supposedly, one of the strongest prolife members in Congress. He has repeatedly said through the years that life begins at conception and abortion is murder.

Yesterday, however, he took the untenable position that an executive order can override a statute (and can do so even when the text of the executive order itself specifically states that it is not enforceable in court). He wrong about that claim, and no serious argument can be made that he’s right. So, there are two options. Either: (a) Stupak actually believes this claim; or, (b) he sold out his long-stated principles. I’m guessing its (b).

Moreover, and perhaps most insultingly, Stupak (and [the group he was leading) stated at their press conference yesterday that their votes were irrelevant because Pelosi had the votes without them. We now know that is untrue. If the Stupak group had remained true to their convictions, bill would have failed. The result of all this is that we have no created a federal entitlement for abortions and Bart Stupak is the but-for cause of it.

Even if you are pro-choice, are you comfortable with that? If Stupak came out and said, “I’ve seen the light. I’ve been wrong all these years. Abortion is GREAT!” then so be it. Everybody is entitled to change their opinion in good faith. But Stupak is still prolife and still believes that abortion is murder. Is anyone comfortable with watching an elected official sell out their principles like that?

My answer would be: See above posts. Trust me, the socialists that post here (above) couldn’t care less about principles. Principles require a moral compass, these people have none whatsoever.

  • MichelleF

I 100% agree timzank. Sad, but true.

  • Jim R

“Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) has acknowledged that he was the one who shouted “baby killer” as Rep. Bart Stupak was speaking on the House floor Sunday night. He said he was referring to the reconciliation bill, not to Stupak” – Politico

Another Southern Arbiter Of Moral Principle.

  • Nachi

More sacred Republiscum Family Values. I’m for wounding up the lot of them, placing them in severe concentration camps. Rewiring their sick/dysfunctional circuits. Such iinferior nsects need to be eradicated in one way or another.

  • LGM25C

Well, As predicted, the unscrupulous violater of the House of Represenatives rules of Decorum has been discovered. In addition to being a sore loser, Neugenbauer ( 9th dst. Texas ) is a LIAR of the worst kind in politics. Clearly on the floor he shouted ” Baby Killer ” . He lied twice today trying to cover up and limit the consequences of his actions. First, he lied about what he said, and then he lied again On CNN about what he said in his apology to Congressman Stupak. Also as predicted, he dodged and never served in the Military, and his Ego is writing checks his sorry but cannot cash.

Like the rest of the Southern G.O.P. Zealots,
they are enraged at being beat by Pelosi, Reed and Obama. Their strategy of going for all the Marbles in the health care bill by not participating in earnest left them a startling revelation. They went for all the marbles and went home to mommy with none.
