New Zealand Earthquake Survivor Talks To Today
You’ve likely heard that New Zealand has been dealing with fatal earthquakes, with at least 65 people already presumed dead in Christchurch. This morning, Ashburton, New Zealand resident and broadcasting student Cameron Betts spoke to Today host Meredith Vieira about his experience of the quake.
Betts, calling in to the studio, recalled bricks falling from crumbling buildings – including historic monuments – and roads cracking as the earthquake tore through his town. Fires also broke as a result of the destruction as power lines went down due to the shocks.
