Scarborough Erupts (Again): Cops Aren’t Here to Make MSNBC Hosts Feel Good

VIDEO

Pledging a “real conversation about race,” Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough fought with guest Dorian Warren Wednesday morning over racial profiling and police data, arguing that police departments based their presence in minority communities on crime data, while Warren countered that heavy policing in minority communities created circular policies that brought attention to minority crimes.

But it was Scarborough’s cohost that really got him going. “[Policing] should not be based on the data,” Mika Brzezinski said. “It should be based on moving society forward, and treating whites and blacks equally.”

“A cop is not out on the street going, ‘You know what I’m going to do today? I’m going to move our society forward,'” Scarborough yelled. “A cop on the street has one job: to protect the people in that neighborhood. It is not to make a statement that makes primetime people on MSNBC feel better about America.”

This is the second time in the past week Scarborough has subtweeted other hosts on his network over Ferguson.
