SNL’s Rudy Giuliani Has Existential Crisis, a la Birdman, on Fox News

SNL went for the multi-layered humor in tonight’s open with a spoof of Oscar “Best Picture” winner Birdman, starring Taren Killam‘s Rudy Giuliani in the midst of an existential crisis while on the set of Fox’s The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson.

For Giuliani (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), “Giuliani” wandered the halls of Fox News, haunted by the ghost of his former self — the much-heralded NYC mayor who shined right after 9/11 — and now living in a hellish cable news existence, saying things like “President Obama doesn’t love America.”

When the studio’s fire alarm goes off, Giuliani rises to the occasion with a bullhorn, declaring himself back.
