The Colbert Report Returning To Production Tomorrow

After a brief hiatus last week, The Colbert Report is returning to its normal production schedule tomorrow, with all four episodes planned to be released this week following The Daily Show.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, the show suddenly halted production when, according to reports, Stephen Colbert‘s mother started feeling gravely ill and the comedian immediately dropped everything to be with his family.

Colbert did not make any public statements about what happened, but he did send out this gracious tweet to his followers on Friday.

Best of luck to Mr. Colbert and his family. As always, the “nation” is looking forward to another round of “truthiness”

I love the Daily Show and really like the Colbert Report too,  but the lack of communication especially from Colbert is off-putting. They often go off air for a week with no notice. And Stephen puts out one tweet the whole week about this?

I know it is only a TV show, but I would have tweeted by the second day, “Sorry about the disruption. I have an urgent personal family matter and will return when I can.” Stephen didn’t even apologize. He can’t always be in character.

You silly person. Mom desperately ill means no time for keeping up image. No one is “on” when people most important to them are in need. Besides, the story of his mom being ill came out on Huffington Post within 24 hours, so your complaint can’t be about ‘no information’. But maybe you were bornded without a mom, maybe you are like slime mould, so just can’t relate; if so, your lack of empathy understandable at least.

Hout, you’re sounding like the FR0TH troll posting next to you.

I empathize with Colbert, but when bad stuff happens to me, I still go through the motions of telling those affected what’s going on. Colbert left it to everyone else to figure it out.

The speculation on everyone’s part was needless and may have resulted in his friends and family getting more questions than they would had Colbert simply informed others generally.

Ridiculous comment.  Normal people would drop everything for very urgent family matters, especially if one’s mother or close sibling is very sick.

Why in the world would Colbert need to apologize for something like this, much less Tweet about what’s happening??????

I really don’t understand your comment at all…..I really hope, for your sake, that this is an attempt at a “joke.”   Otherwise, as Hout Bosques says, you really are a “silly person.”

    Wrong…..wrong, again.

When something like this happens, you tell very close friends and family.

Yes, his viewers (including me) who love his show would like to know what’s happening, but this in absolutely no way obligates him to Tweet or otherwise notify us of what’s happening.

Those of us who are true fans of Stephen Colbert know him well enough that we wouldn’t need to know the true nature of his absence……if he had to cancel his production, we would know that something serious has happened, and it should remain there.
