Biden Botches Introduction of Volodymyr Zelensky in Worst Way Imaginable: ‘Ladies and Gentleman, President Putin’

Speaking at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, President Joe Biden introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin.”

Vladimir Putin, of course, is the Russian president who initiated a war of aggression against Ukraine beginning in February 2022.

“And now, I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination,” Biden said. “Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.”

As people in the room began clapping, Biden went back to the microphone.

“President Putin?” he said. “He’s gonna beat President Putin. President Zelensky. I’m so focused on beating Putin, we gotta worry about it.”

“I’m better,” Zelensky joked.

“You are a hell of a lot better,” Biden replied.

Bloomberg’s Jennifer Jacobs reported that people in the room said “Zelensky,” which prompted Biden to make the correction.

Biden is facing serious questions from Democratic officials and donors about his mental acuity in the wake of his disastrous debate two weeks ago. Subsequent unscripted appearances have hardly allayed fears about his ability to defeat former President Donald Trump in November and serve another four years.
