Karine Jean-Pierre Grilled At WH Briefing Over If Biden Feels Any Responsibility For Trump’s Victory: ‘He Made The Right Decision’

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced questions on Thursday about whether President Joe Biden feels responsible for Donald Trump’s victory.

Joining reporters for the first White House press briefing since Trump won the election earlier this week, Jean-Pierre was asked repeatedly if Biden’s decision to not drop out of the race earlier led to the GOP nominee returning to the White House.

Democrat and Republican media pundits have pointed to Biden’s indecision and delay until finally dropping out earlier this year after a disastrous debate as a factor that weakened Vice President Kamala Harris’s candidacy against Trump.

Associated Press White House reporter Zeke Miller pressed Jean-Pierre on the matter. She responded that the president “believes he made the right decision.”

MILLER: To restate my question, does the president feel any responsibility for the outcome?

JEAN-PIERRE: The president understands that he’s going to respect the will of the people. That’s what he understands. He understands that the American people made a decision and he’s going to respect that. He believes he made the right decision when he stepped aside, decided that he wasn’t going to run…Guys, here’s the thing. And we can’t we can’t rewrite history. We have to remember what happened in 2022. 2022 is a perfect example, actually, because when we came out of 2022 midterms, we saw a successful midterms for any new administration in over 60 years. And it was because of the president’s policies. Let’s not forget that all of the accomplishments that the president did. Again, I had listed the bipartisan infrastructure legislation, Chips in Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act. Those are popular with the American people. They are — those policies were indeed popular.
