Crypto Market Takes Bets Over Which Escaped New Orleans Convicts Will Be Captured First

Cryptocurrency trading and betting platform Polymarket began taking bets on Tuesday over which escaped New Orleans inmates would be captured by Friday after 10 inmates fled Orleans Parish Prison through a hole in a wall.
“PRISONER PARLAYS? You can now bet on which inmates from the New Orleans jailbreak will be captured by Friday,” announced Polymarket, listing six of the ten inmates who remain at large.
As of writing, inmates Jermaine Donald and Derrick Groves are sitting at a 22% chance of capture by Friday, while Antoine Massey, Leo Tate, and Lenton Vanburen are sitting at 23%. Corey Boyd has the most expensive odds, at 99 cents on “yes” and 98 cents on “no.”
The inmates escaped from Orleans Parish Prison on Friday, breaking out through a hole behind a cell toilet.
A maintenance worker at the prison, Sterling Williams, was arrested on Tuesday and accused of aiding the escape. Williams allegedly turned off the water to the toilet after being instructed by one of the prisoners. They then ripped off the toilet and escaped through the hole.
Three of the escapees were captured just one day later, while a fourth was captured on Monday.
Five out of the six remaining escapees had either been charged or convicted of second-degree murder, while the sixth inmate Massey had been charged with domestic abuse.
