Secret Service Agent Robbed at Gunpoint During Biden’s Trip to California

A U.S. Secret Service agent was the victim of an armed robbery on Saturday night in California as President Joe Biden was in the state for a fundraiser.

Biden was joined by First Lady Jill Biden, former President Barack Obama, Jimmy Kimmel, George Clooney, and other notable figures in Los Angeles to build up the president’s war chest ahead of his rematch with Donald Trump in November.

The robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. in Tustin, California as the agent was returning from an assignment. According to the Secret Service, the agent’s bag was stolen at gunpoint. The agent fired his weapon during the incident and the Secret Service said it is unclear if the suspect was hit.

“A member of the U.S. Secret Service was the victim of an armed robbery in Tustin, California late Saturday when returning from a work assignment,” the agency said in a statement. “The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck. We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries.”

On Saturday, June 15. 2024 at approximately 9:36 p.m., Tustin Police Officers responded to a call of a possible robbery that just occurred at the Tustin Fields I residential community. On arrival, officers discovered the victim was a member of the U.S. Secret Service and his bag was stolen at gunpoint. During the Incident an officer (agent) Involved shooting occurred. The suspect(s) were not located and it is unknown at this time whether the suspect(s) were injured as a result of the incident. Officers have located some of the victim’s belongings in the area and the incident is still being investigated. There is no known threat to the public.

The incident could very well serve as fodder for Republicans, who have played up crime as an issue under Biden – especially in California, which conservatives have portrayed as a dystopian hellhole overrun with crime and wokeness.
