Trump Attorney Begins Interview by Saying, ‘As Someone Who Was Recently Indicted Myself…’

Christina Bobb, an attorney for former President Donald Trump, began her Newsmax appearance on Friday night by noting that like her client, she has been indicted.

Trump is on trial in Manhattan where he faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to cover up extramarital affairs before the 2016 election. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges and the 54 criminal counts he faces in three other jurisdictions.

Bobb, who is not representing Trump in the hush money case, appeared on Newsmax on Friday night where guest host Bob Brooks asked her about media reports saying the ex-president has fallen asleep in court multiple times.

“Christina, let’s talk about this sleeping-in-the-courtroom moment here that the left-wing media has been running with,” Brooks said. “Wow, they’re reaching are straws here, no?”

She began her response with a preface for the ages:

Well, as someone who was recently indicted myself, I cannot imagine falling asleep in my own trial. I mean, the idea that President Trump would be sleeping through this is absurd. Not only do I not think he’s sleeping, I think he’s incredibly angry, and I can only imagine having to sit there and listen to people who are confirmed liars talk about you and make up stories about you.

Bobb was indicted last month over her efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Arizona, which Trump lost. She was one of 18 to be charged over the scheme, including former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani and former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Trump is an unindicted co-conspirator in the case.

Additionally, she has been questioned by federal investigators over Trump’s retention of government documents after leaving office. In June 2021, she signed a letter to the Department of Justice stating that to the best of her knowledge, no government material remained at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence. Two months later, the FBI executed a search warrant and found a trove of material the DOJ says was classified. The former president has been charged with willfully retaining classified documents and obstructing the government’s efforts to retrieve them.

Trump has reportedly fallen asleep in court several times. The former president denied the allegation on Thursday.

“Contrary to the FAKE NEWS MEDIA, I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today,” he wrote on Truth Social. “I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!”
