Breitbart Financier Robert Mercer Sued by Former Employee

Robert Mercer — billionaire Donald Trump-benefactor and investor in Breitbart — is being sued by a former employee who claims he was fired after calling Mercer racist, Bloomberg reported.
David Magerman, who was a research scientist at Renaissance Technologies, of which Mercer is Co-Chief Executive, is suing his former boss after he claims he was wrongfully fired from the hedge fund on April 29.
According to Magerman, Mercer fired him after he criticized his support for Trump and called Mercer racist.
Mercer invested $10 million in Breitbart News when the website was struggling in 2011, according to Bloomberg. The secretive billionaire has long funded right-wing causes, from think tanks like the Heritage Foundation to political campaigns. Mercer dumped millions into Sen. Ted Cruz’s unsuccessful election campaign in 2016, before putting his money behind Trump. According to Newsweek, he was the “third biggest donor to conservative outside-spending groups” during the election.
The billionaire’s daughter Rebekah Mercer also had an influential role in the Trump campaign, reportedly recommending the then-presidential candidate hire Kellyanne Conway and Steve Bannon, now both senior aides in the White House. She also served on the executive committee of Trump’s transition team.
