Biden Rips Trump at Campaign Rally: ‘The Threat to This Nation, to Our Democracy, Is Real’

During his Philadelphia campaign rally today, former VP Joe Biden went on a tear against President Donald Trump and told them the single most important thing they need to accomplish is “defeat Donald Trump.”

“As long as Donald Trump is in the White House, none of these things, these critical things, are going to get done,” he said. “If you want to know what the first and most important plan in my climate proposal is: beat Trump.”

He went on to say, “If you asked me a few years ago if our democracy was at stake, I would have smiled and laughed a little bit. No more.”

“The threat to this nation, to our democracy, is real,” Biden said. “It’s clear, and it’s present.”

He said Trump has been “instilling fear” and attacking the “fake news” as the “enemy of the people” in language similar to how “tyrants and dictators” stifle dissent.

At one point Biden brought up the showdown between the White House and the Democratic-controlled House to say Trump is “blocking their constitutional responsibility to legitimately engage in oversight, placing him above the law.”

He added, “By the way, without a whimper from the Republicans in Congress who know better. They know better.”
