Barstool Boss Dave Portnoy Tells CBS He’s Sickened By Nonstop Antisemitic Barbs: ‘It’s Every Day Now’

Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy told CBS he is disgusted by the surge in antisemitic comments that have been hurled at him, with Portnoy saying he deals with it “every day now.”

Portnoy, during an interview with Tony Dokoupil, said he would “occasionally” deal with bigots hurling barbs in the past; that has turned into a daily occurrence now, he said, in a preview clip of his interview that was shared on Sunday.

“It’s every day now. Like, there’s a definitive shift in what’s going on… for me, being a Jewish person you got to step up,” Portnoy sid. “You’re kind of someone people look up to in the Jewish community. You have to be like, alright, this is not normal.”

He added these are not just silly jokes among friends. “People are coming in with real hate,” Portnoy said.

CBS noted the interview was recorded before Friday, when a heckler shouted “f*ck the Jews!” and threw coins at Portnoy while he was recording one of his pizza review videos. You can see that incident below:

Portnoy has dealt with a few other notable antisemitic comments recently.

A Temple University student was suspended in May after he had “f*ck the Jews” put on a customizable sign at a Barstool bar in Philadelphia. The same slur was used yet again a month later during a pizza review in Toronto, when a man yelled “f*ck the Jews” at Portnoy.

His comments to Dokoupil come as many online have debated the rise in antisemitism from both the left and the right.

And on Sunday, Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) denounced Nick Fuentes for “hateful rhetoric” that he says does not represent conservatives or Americans in any way during an appearance on Meet the Press on Sunday morning. Fuentes has made a number of antisemitic comments over the years, including recently, when he said the conservative movement was being “held hostage by lunatic Israel-First Jews.”

Portnoy’s interview will air on Nov. 16 on CBS Sunday Morning. Watch the preview clip above, via the CBS News X account.
