Christian Slater Wants to be Kelly Ripa’s New Co-Host

Ever since Michael Strahan left Live! With Kelly in May, there have been a ton of rumors as to who is going to take his place as co-host. Christian Slater really wants the job. The Mr. Robot star appeared on Ellen this week and told host Ellen Degeneres, “I love it. I live about, you know, six blocks away from [the Live! With Kelly studio]… It’s one of the greatest jobs ever, so yeah, Kelly, I’m available! Let’s do it!”

Slater has guest co-hosted before, but so far he says he hasn’t been offered the full-time gig. He told Ellen he’s “putting [his] hat in the ring, why not?”

On whether he would be able to balance the hosting job with his Mr. Robot role,  he said he is equipped to “absolutely handle both jobs.”

Aside from wanting to be a host, he also loves the show’s star. Of Ripa, he said, “she’s amazing.”

Other rumored potential hosts have included Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, but so far there’s no official word on who would replace Strahan.
