Jon Stewart is returning to T.V. with a new current events series for Apple.

The former Daily Show host has signed a multi-year deal with the streaming service, which has already ordered multiple seasons of his new show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Each episode of the one-hour series will explore a specific topic related to national current affairs, as well as Stewart’s advocacy work. The untitled series, which will debut on Apple TV+, will also include a companion podcast.

As part of his first-look deal with the streaming giant, Stewart and his production company, Busboy Productions, will produce and develop additional Apple projects, according to THR. The show will also be produced by former HBO chief Richard Plepler, who announced his own production deal with Apple earlier this year.

Stewart hosted The Daily Show for 16 years before passing the torch to Trevor Noah in 2015. Many former Daily Show correspondents have went on to success in the world of political TV comedy, including Stephen Colbert, John Oliver and Samantha Bee.

Earlier this year, Stewart released the political satire Irresistible — which he wrote and directed — starring former Daily Show correspondent Steve Carell.

Over the past few years, Stewart has become an outspoken advocate for 9/11 first responders and wounded veterans. Just last week, Stewart appeared on Peacock’s The Mehdi Hasan Show to discuss his mission to ensure that veterans and 9/11 first responders are granted the benefits they deserve.
