Rap Artist Killer Mike Dragged From Grammys In Handcuffs After Winning 3 Awards Including Best Rap Song

Rapper Killer Mike was taken away in handcuffs during the Grammys on Sunday evening after winning three performance awards.
During the telecast, the artist, whose real name is Michael Render, won Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his song Scientists and Engineers while also taking home the award for Best Rap Album for his album Michael.
However, according to Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner, law enforcement then led the star away in handcuffs from Crypto.com Arena for unspecified reasons at around 4:22 pm PT (7:22 ET).

A law enforcement official then reportedly told a member of the rapper’s team that he may be released tonight, but refused to say what Mike was being charged with, according to Gardner.

Rolling Stone also reached out to LAPD for more information but were given none prior to publishing. The music magazine also noted that “Ironically, Mike’s father served as a policeman in Atlanta.”
THR’s Garden reported later that an official informed him that his detainment was related to a misdemeanor and had nothing to do with anything inside the arena. The source added, “It’s a big nothing.”
Mike’s victory at the Grammy on Sunday night was his first win at the music award show since 2003. Previously, he has been nominated for best rap song in 2018 for his song Chase Me.
