Rita Ora Says Her Shows are ‘100 Percent Live’ After Macy’s Parade Lip-Syncing Fail
Things did not go as planned when Rita Ora was set to perform at the Macy’s Parade Thanksgiving morning.
Technical issues resulted in a spectacular lip-sync fail for the singer which was promptly mocked on Twitter.
Yet, fellow performer John Legend quickly came to her defense.
Legend noted that a float going slowly down a Manhattan street in frigid temps simply doesn’t have the capacity to allow performers to sing live.
“Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance,” he wrote. “Hope y’all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!”
In response, Ora said her shows are also 100 percent live.
Macy’s has since apologized for the technical difficulties that resulted in performance issues during the live show and stressed that what happened during the live broadcast was out of the artist’s control.
Ora responded to Macy’s mea culpa with a thank you.
“I appreciate the honesty and I hope everyone still had a great time!” she wrote.
