Stephen Colbert Roasts Trump for Pants Fiasco: ‘How Lucky are We That This Man No Longer Has the Nuclear Codes?’

Former President Donald Trump gave a speech at a North Carolina Republican convention this weekend, and Stephen Colbert — along with pretty much everyone on Twitter — could not get over his pants.

The Late Night host admitted that while Trump did say “a bunch of stuff” during his speech — “nobody paid attention because it looked like he wore his pants backwards.”

“Either he shares a tailor with a Ken doll, or he spends so much time yanking stuff out of his keister, it just helps to have the zipper back there to make it easy,” cracked the host. “But it raised a lot of questions, like: How did he zip the pants? Was his belt also on backward? And how lucky are we that this man no longer has the nuclear codes?”

Colbert noted that Twitter users quickly compared Trump’s pants style to Kris Kross, a ’90s child hip-hop duo that often sported backward-pants.

“That’s ridiculous,” Colbert said. “Their initials are ‘K.K.,’ which is one less than the ex-president prefers.”

The late night host then shared some bad news with his viewers, revealing that the “fact-shacklers over at Snopes.com” discovered that Trump’s pants were not worn backwards.

“Oh, then I guess we wont have a third impeachment trial now,” said Colbert. “Which is a shame because they’ve already drafted the Articles of Im-pants-ment.”

Colbert noted that the poor quality of the video that went viral blurred the zipper, but it’s clear the pants are on correctly when looking at a higher resolution shot.

“Its clear he’s got a zipper,” Colbert conceded. “Normally when you pay that much attention to his crotch, you get $130,000. But this is alarming, because it can only mean one thing: Something on the internet isn’t true!”
