Trevor Noah: ‘Do Republicans Actually Care About Sexual Assault?’
On Monday night, Trevor Noah slammed President Trump for supporting “America’s oldest prom king” Roy Moore.
The Daily Show host answered a question what many people are still asking themselves, “How could President Trump support a man who was credibly accused of sexual misconduct by so many women?”
“It’s simple people,” Noah said. “Birds of a feather molest together.”
He then pivoted to the three Trump accusers who went public Monday morning who revived the allegations they made during the 2016 election.
“In the wake of the Me Too movement, these women have regrouped and they’re telling their stories again,” Noah continued.
Noah played a clip from Jessica Leeds’ appearance on Megyn Kelly Today where she described being groped by Trump decades ago during a flight.
“That last story is particularly harrowing,” he reacted. “Not only does she say that Trump sexually assaulted her, but she also had to sit on that plane and watch him eat. That is a double trauma, people.”
He ripped the White House, particularly Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, for their weak response to Trump’s accusers. But then he took on a different target: the Republican Party.
“There’s only one question I have, do Republicans actually care about sexual assault?” Noah asked. “I mean as a problem, not an opportunity.”
Noah explained that this “has all happened before” after the Access Hollywood tape was leaked in 2016 and after the same women came forward with their accusations, Republicans still voted for Trump.
“But on Tuesday in Alabama, they look set to make the same decision again, which means Roy Moore would enter the Senate, and the only people who could hold him accountable for his actions will be the Republican leadership. And I think we all know how that will turn out,” Noah concluded.
