You Can Own a Naked Taylor Swift Sculpture for a Cool $4 Million
For those of you who have $4 million burning a hole through your pocket, we have an idea. The nude wax figures from Kanye West‘s “Famous” video are on display at a Los Angeles Gallery, and that’s the going rate. For $4 million dollars, you can have lifelike nudes of Taylor Swift, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Rihanna, Anna Wintour, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby, Chris Brown, Ray J and of course, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye himself, reports The New York Times. You’ll also get the bed, the bedspread, and batteries to animate the figures- they really breathe.
The price isn’t just because of Kanye’s name. Aaron Axelrod, an artist who did not work on the piece said, “I did the math in my head, and it took $500,000 to a million just to make it.” If you don’t have the cash though, you may be able to see the exhibit live, anyway. West’s publicist told the Times the exhibit may go on tour.
Kardashian West was at the gallery to open the exhibit, which is fitting since she also helped to make the piece- literally. “I shaved my own butt,” she told W Magazine. “It was a little too small, and then it was a little too big. I was there with the tools to get it right.”
When the video for Famous came out it was controversial. Celebrities including Lena Dunham, who is a close friend of Swift’s expressed outrage. The Girls creator called it “sickening.” An aide for Bush told Us Weekly that the sculpture that was definitely of him was “not him.”
West told Vanity Fair in an interview that the video is “not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]. It’s a comment on fame.”
