WATCH: Giada De Laurentiis And Bobby Flay Compete For Sad Trophy On Today

Televised culinary competitions are the backbone of food media, which is why Bobby Flay has three competition shows and Giada De Laurentiis has one. So clearly, they love food fights, maybe a bit too much, since their competitive streak occasionally leads them into meaningless competitions over dinky prizes, like the rather sad trophy that they fought over this morning on The Today Show.

The trophy, which looked like one of those angel statues from a trophy store but with a spoon taped onto it, was flanked by two of The Today Show’s Real Emmys, both taunting the Fake Emmy with its Realness. Both Bobby and Giada’s shows were recently nominated for Daytime Emmys, which they’ve both won in the past, so this trophy will sadly bring no joy to anyone except as a source of laughter, and not the good kind.

But despite the poor trophy’s existential lameness, Bobby and Giada still put on their Smiley Game Faces and grilled the crap out of each other, and Bobby may have tried to get Matt Lauer and Al Roker drunk for his advantage.
