WATCH: James Oseland Demos Totally Disappointing Flambée Technique On Today
James Oseland appeared on The Today Show this morning to show off some classic dishes from Saveur magazine’s 150th issue, which features 101 classic recipes from the publication’s repertoire. Along with samosas, Szechuan green beans, pasta primavera, sweet potato pie, and baked Alaska, James brought along a Crepes Suzette demo.
Sadly, James’ definition of a “classic recipe” is food that “doesn’t need any tricking out,” which left host Natalie Morales wanting when he got to the flambée portion. Of course, Crepes Suzette aren’t really a showy flambée dish, and the flame stays pretty low over the alcohol being cooked off on top of the crepes.
But crepes can be a flambée for your soul, Natalie.
Check out the disappointing flame-out below.
