Mehdi Hasan Laughs at Crass Joke About Pro-Israel Republican Who Had Legs Blown Off
Mehdi Hasan, the ex-MSNBC star and founder of media company Zeteo, laughed at a twisted joke about Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) losing his legs, as well as his “balls and his honor,” during a recent event.
“He lost his legs, and then he lost his balls and his honor,” Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef told Hasan at ArabCon in Dearborn, Michigan on Sept. 26.
Hasan chuckled at the comment, which came a moment after he noted Mast, a staunch advocate of Israel, had worn an Israeli Defense Forces uniform to Capitol Hill in 2023, days after Hamas terrorists broke into Israel and killed 1,200 people.
He then, after finishing laughing, chimed in by saying Mast “is one of the most racist people in Congress, and that’s saying a lot, because there’s a big competition for most racist member of Congress.”
Mast lost both of his legs while serving in Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Army in 2010. He stepped on an improvised explosive device, which led to both of his legs being amputated, as well as Mast losing his left index finger.
He has been a vocal supporter of Israel during his time in Congress, and in 2015, he volunteered with a non-profit that helped the IDF.
ArabCon, in its promotional material leading up to its event, dubbed Youssef the “Jon Stewart of the Arab World.”
He was recently pressed by Piers Morgan for suggesting Israel was behind the killing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Morgan asked why he would float a “mad conspiracy” like that.
“I’m a comedian, remember? I’m a clown. I’m a clown,” Youssef eventually told him.
Mast responded to Hasan and Youssef yucking it up with a statement to the Free Beacon on Friday.
“They should be careful, if some of their terrorist friends knew how interested they are in my balls they may be thrown off a building,” Mast said.
