Anti-Israel Protesters at Columbia University Chant ‘Resistance Is Glorious’ on Anniversary of October 7

Anti-Israel protesters on Columbia University’s campus celebrated the anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel by chanting “Resistance is glorious!” among other slogans on Monday.

On X, Jessica Costescu, a reporter for The Washington Free Beacon, documented a large crowd of protesters screaming slogans that included “One solution! Revolution!”and “Resistance is glorious! We will be victorious!”– as well as demanding that the university divest from the world’s only Jewish-majority state.

According to Costescu, at least some of the anti-Israel protesters were students at the university who participated in a walk out demonstration.

In a segment on MSNBC, George Solis also reported on the protests, noting that there “were some moments of escalation” when the “pro-Palestinian protesters set up on the opposite side” of students mourning the atrocities of last October 7 by an “art installation commemorating and honoring those lives lost” in the attack.

“For a lot of students, a lot of Jewish students, a lot of Jewish faculty, and people that are from the community have been telling us today was really not a day for them to reminisce about the past protests and demonstrations and violence that they saw over the last year. But it was really just a moment to reflect on those lives lost during the deadly attack, as well as praying for those hostages in the hope that they will be reunited with their loved ones,” explained Solis.

One student who spoke to Solis told him that the university was “not doing anything to address the root of the problem” at the university. “Columbia has a systemic Jew hate problem, and it’s rampant among the faculty, it’s rampant in the university Senate, the rule-making body for the university, and frankly, it’s rampant among the student body,” she continued.

This past spring, anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian protests Columbia made headlines as students and outside agitators camped out and occupied large, public areas of the campus.
