Bill Maher Praises Trump, Says He’s Like Taylor Swift: You ‘Can’t Deny’ Their ‘Enormous Success’

Bill Maher said that you have to give both Taylor Swift and President Donald Trump credit for their “enormous success” — even if you are not a fan.

Maher, during the latest episode of his Club Random podcast on Monday, said you have to respect the president for all he has accomplished; his guest, actor William H. Macy, agreed.

“You cannot ever deny success. You just have to give your respect, even if it’s not your thing. Have the humility to give it up for enormous success, on any level,” said Maher

“Good point, I agree,” Macy told Maher.

“Trump, not my choice, didn’t vote for him—” Maher continued.

“But a lot of people did,” Macy jumped in to add.

“And I can’t deny the success,” Maher said.

“I can’t either,” Macy said.

Maher and Macy did not mention any particular Trump accomplishments they admired. They got onto the topic of Trump after talking about Swift. Maher said he respects the singer’s work, but that he does not understand how a song like “Shake It Off” became a huge hit, since it sounds like a “potato chip jingle.”

The conversation quickly shifted towards a framed picture Maher has on his wall that features a number of insults Trump has hurled at the Real Time host over the years. Maher got the list of barbs signed when he had dinner with Trump at the White House earlier this year. Macy loved it, gave Maher a fist bump, and called it “hip.”

The Fargo actor was also cracking up as Maher read some of the slights, including: Dopey, Dummy, Troubled, No Mojo, Stupid, Not Considered Smart, and Terrible Student.

“Terrible student? How did he know that?” Macy asked.

“He doesn’t know any of this!” Maher responded, drawing a big laugh from Macy.
